I see:
* a short timescale of about 3 years
Including perceptrons: how long have neural networks been around ?
* lots of noise ( plot is not smooth: low volume )
If i limit the search from "All Regions" to "Germany" or
"Japan" to get interference from local language out: not enough data.

Try "worldcup" for low noisefloor and a clear peak: thats data.

"ARM7" for white noise. "ARM9" for white noise, but a start mid-2003.

Slowly falling ( plot is smooth: high volume ): "Linux" ( bye bye ...)
Quite steady: "Microsoft".

I doubt that google can change the usual statistic ( how many
papers on subject in technical journals ) even if compiling them
is tedious.

As for commitment from industry: chronically out of sync.
Here in Germany the second generation of a neural network IC
got just ready this year:

Yes, it's interesting. Clearly, we are not the latest and hottest thing
going, judging by the steady decline, except perhaps in India, which
clearly exceeds all other nations in the likelihood that a computer user
will search for those terms. However, I think its the case that the
masses in India do not use computers, whereas in North American and
Western Europe they do. Hence all technical subjects will have more
relative interest in India. But I think India is experiencing a large
wave of interest in computer science. Our small ANNEVolve team of 12
people contains two Indians!
