Sum of products in OpenOffice
Hi, I don't use spreadheets usually, but I have to do it this time. I
can't find how to do this formula:
I have a column (say A) with numbers.
I have other columns (say B,C,D) with numbers ;-)
I want a formula in a column like B, C or D defined with:
for each line between 3 and 533 in the current column
make the product of the cell with the cell at the same line in column A
return the sum of all these products
Of course I would like not to give a name (B,C,D, etc.) to the "current
column" in my formula since I will have to use it on many columns, but if

Hierarchical spreadsheet?
Hi all, does anyone know about any work done on alternative
(especially open source) spreadsheets? I use Excel all day and
consequently have some opinions on the possible design of a
spreadsheet that modifies the Visicalc-style flat grid paradigm. Two
main ideas are that the spreadsheet should concentrate on explanation
and "self-documentation" rather than calculation, and that a
hierarchical format would work better for many applications. If
anyone actually wants to hear more about my ideas, I wrote up a short
essay at:

Hi Everyone,
Name is James from UK
A few weeks ago I had a new gas meter installed with a reading on the meter

What I am trying to do is write a spreadsheet to work out my gas bill.
Upto 670 KWh gas is charged at 0.06530p per KWh
Here's what I have:
C23 = 34 (KWh)
C27 = 0.06530
C31 = Total
Formula needs to work out the following:
If (C23<670) Then Let C31=(C23*C27)

Excel inconsistency
After a bunch of fiddling, i got a macro to duplicate a chart below a

But there was a runtime error as noted near the end of the macro.
So i did a lot of more fiddling and was able to get a number of
copies, one after the other by calling them all "Chart 1".
Nasty.
Did other fiddling in attempts to change series ranges and title on

Things got worse, so i tried to go back to the original macro as seen
below.
Even deleting the XLSTART folder and re-trying the macro did no good.

For version 1.2, we have one big headline feature; a new function

another, passing in parameters and pulling out results - just like
functions in a programming language, but without having to code
anything by hand. This allows you to mix spreadsheet-based and code-

ANN: Resolver One 1.1 released
We're delighted to announce version 1.1 of Resolver One, a Windows
spreadsheet/IDE mashup that can be programmed in IronPython.
As you enter formulae on the grid, it writes the equivalent computer
program for you, using the IronPython language. As you add your own
IronPython code, the grid is updated. This allows you to build
applications that are much more complex but better-structured than a
traditional spreadsheet, much more quickly than you could if you were
using a regular programming language. You can then export the code
and re-use it elsewhere in your own programs.

Ques. about sheet reference in a forumla
I have question about why would you put a sheet reference in a forumla to have it reference the same sheet
the formula is on?
Hope I said that right.
Heres the formula-
=IF($P1.B6="";0;IF(SUM(C6:E6)=0;"--";SUM(C6:E6)))
this is the part I'm not sure about $P1.B6
Why would you need the $P1 (which is refering to sheet P1) when the formula is on the same sheet?
when this would work as well
=IF(B6="";0;IF(SUM(C6:E6)=0;"--";SUM(C6:E6)))
would there be a advantage to having the sheet reference?

Corrupted XLS file Options
Hello all,
I have created a Excel 2003 spreadsheet that basically links
18 other spreadsheets together as a summary file. It has grown to
about 4MB. When saving, it saves OK. However, ...... the file prompts
'Cannot open file'.
Is there a utility out there to fix this?

I am writing an Excel 2003 VBA application that generates a new
worksheet. I want to delete the new worksheet when I close the

End Sub
It works, but the procedure is interrupted by the warning:
"Data may exist in the sheet(s) selected for deletion. To permanently
delete the data, Press Delete"
delete button cancel button
What must I do to by-pass this warning/action and let the delete

ANN: version 1.0.1 of Resolver One, a Windows spreadsheet/IDE
Hi!
We're delighted to announce version 1.0.1 of Resolver One, a Windows
spreadsheet/IDE mashup that can be programmed in IronPython.
You can then export the code
and re-use it elsewhere in your own program
