Not sure I understand your question exactly, but is is a good job? I
guess that is perspective (I happen to love high-stress, under pressure
type jobs). 5 years IMHO makes a good to intermediate to advanced SA,
but would depend on the person, the passion and the 'knack' for things -
this is a good reference for a defined reference on levels:

Fix Options for Big Problems w/OS X 10.4.10? Greets,
Running Mac OS X 10.4.10.
I'm having a pretty wide assortment of problems lately ranging from
(a) iChat repeatedly asking if I want my password stored on my
keychain but it still continues to ask, (b) downloaded dmg files won't
mount (invalid checksum), (c) downloaded mov files won't open
(sometimes they opened previously but now won't), (d) programs force
me to go through setup every time I run them, (e) MP3 files seem to be
bleeding into each other (one discrete file will wind up with two
different songs in it), (f) iTunes Library corrupts about once every
Ubuntu 10.10 crapware victim: uptimes over a week are "quite good" "With the most recent kernel, I've enjoyed uptimes over a week or so
which is quite good (previously had to run the .32-Kernel to achieve that)."
8 days uptime is quite good?!?!
Ubuntu is "perfect for colleges and universities"... and degrading
But it doesn't belong anywhere near end-users.

Big job? Contractors? I may be supervising a big job later this year and wanted to get some
information from some of the contract programmers on the group. I need
to know what contract programmers are charging these days? I don't
think that the programmers would need to relocate but would probably
need to travel to one location for meetings once a month or so. How do
people charge for travel time? What sorts of skill sets should I expect
a contract programmer to have and how would that affect his/her hourly rate?
The people I'm talking to think this is going to be a pretty big job
Is there a good Solaris 10 book out there? I have been out of the Sys. admin role for about four years now (did
the Mgmt thing), so Solaris 8 was the last version I used extensively.
I installed Solaris 10 on my e420r and there are a number of
differences, so I was thinking about picking up a Solaris v10 book to
cover v10 specifics. I would most likely use it as a reference and not
read cover to cover. I'm very well versed in UNIX and do not need a
"Beginners" guide, but more along the lines of new features, etc...

SUSE 10 Looks great - and so easy to install that I just don't know how anybody
could go wrong these days. If *I* can do this, *anybody* can do it:-
Having downloaded the 5 CDs, it suddenly occurred to me that since I can now
read/burn DVDs on all my machines, perhaps I ought really to have the DVD.
From the UK mirror, that also came down maxing-out my 2Mbps connection at
well over 200KB/s
Burned both CDs and DVD (F3b of course, in 9.3. This S/W is *still* not at
v1? Why on Earth not? F3b is great!)
Re-booted at 15:05, with DVD in slot.
Told it to over-write hda8, and to boot from floppy (f...
