Windows CE .NET & Visual Studio .NET

Hi Everybody,

Do anybody know is it necessary to install Visual Studio .NET
separately in an Windows CE .NET environment or not? Is Visual Studio
..NET IDE is already in the Windows CE .NET OS ?

No. It's not even possible to do that if you try. VS.NET has to be
run on "real" Windows, not on CE.

Installing Visual Studio .Net Enterprise Architect on same machine as Visual Studio .Net
I am trying to install .Net Enterprise Architect on my machine, where I currently have a working copy of .Net Developer. I have the following questions/concerns: 1) When I run the installation, I am asked to load the pre-requisites. I had already loaded these before I installed .Net Developer. I could go ahead and run n:\setup\Setup.exe /NO_BSLN_CHECK, however, I want to make sure that will not cause any problems. 2) My biggest question is, can I load the .Net Enterprise Architect version on the same machine as the .Net Developer version, or will this cause any problems? migration to CE .net 4.2 (Windows CE) or Windows Mobile 2003 from Windows CE 3.0
I have an application developed under Embedded Visual Basic 3.0 (Edition 2002) that ran under Windows CE 3.0. When trying to run that application under .net 4.2 I'm getting an error such that "Cannot find extension file Forms Data. Please run setup to restore this file". Am I totally out of luck under CE .net 4.2 here and should better switch to Windows Mobile 2003? The vendor of the PDA offer the hardware with two OS options, .Net 4.2 or Windows mobile 2003. Is Windows mobile 2003 the successor of Windows CE 3.0 or is it a totally different animal? I'm a bit lost at the ...

J2SE SDK & Tomcat coexist w/Visual Studio.NET & IIS?
It seemed when I first installed J2SE SDK and the Tomcat server, that it didn't get along with MS's Visual Studio and IIS server. That was in Windows 98. Now I'm running WinXP Pro, and I'm getting tired of maintaining two versions of the operating system - one Win XP running my Java stuff, and another WinXP running my C# stuff (I'm a student). I'd like to put the two development environments on the same operating system. Can it be done so that the MS Visual Studio.NET and IIS doesn't interfere my Java SDK and Tomcat development software? --->Barths Check th...

Visual Studio 6.0 -> Visual studio .NET 2003
Hi, I had an application using a CHtmlView-derived window, created under Visual C++ 6.0. I migrate the project to Visual Studio .NET 2003 (not by direct conversion, but by creating a new project and adding the files to it). Everything works great, except that my CHtmlView-derived window do not accept anymore drag and drop files. Does anyone knows why, and how to fix it? Please reply also directly to mailto:jean-claude.garreau@univ-lille1.fr. Thank you very much, Jean-Claude ...

Visual Studio 2003 & .NET Applications
I have an Access 2000 database that I would like to make available over our intranet and would like to upgrade it to .NET, as this is the way our company is progressing. This database will be transferred to a MS SQL cluster on our network. I am wondering if there is an easy way to convert the forms and reports already in Access into Visual Studio 2003, or whether I'll need to redisgn the whole DB. Any help on this would be appreciated. Berkeley DB XML & Visual Studio .NET 2003
Hello there, did someone manage to get a running version of Berkeley DB XML on Visual Studio .NET 2003? I'm compiling the samples, but at the first "Berkeley line": XmlContainer container(0,"test.dbxml");; I've got an exception: Unhandled exception at 0x10001c54 (libdbxml11.dll) in TestDB.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x74736573. It appears that the Berkeley DB XML links the Visual C++ 6.0 DLLs... Are there special builds of the DLLs and libs? So, if someone succeeded, please let me know... Pascal. Right. I didn't notice this fact. This looks like exactly an internal type mismatch. So this also looks like the Berkeley DB XML is waiting for something related to Visual C++ 6.0 libraries and gets a VS.NET 2003 parameter, don't you think? Are there some Berkeley DB XML guys on this group? Can they confirm? And also, is there any way to get a Berkeley DB XML working with VS.N...

Newbie on permissions: ADO.NET, C++.NET, SQL SERVER 2005 EXPRESS, Visual Studio 2005
This is a very basic question, perhaps more of a Windows XP Professional OS permissions question than a dB or programming question: how to create and access SQL SERVER databases from an account other than "Administrator"; for example, from a "Power User" account? As anything other than an "Administrator" user (i.e. as a Power User), I keep getting (when I try from inside of MS Visual Studio 2005 development environment) the error message: "CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master' Using the SQL Server Express Surface Area Configuration tool, I set the parameters below to "enabled" (they were disabled). This only helped in one respect: now I can create a database with Visual Studio 2005 (using the Server Explorer tool) when logged in as an "Administrator". But for security reasons (which I'm not even sure are valid, but at least in my mind they are) I would like to log in as a Power User. My configuration: Windows OS on a standalone Pentium 4 PC connected to the internet--I'm using Visual Studio 2005 and programming in C#.NET and C++.NET using ADO.NET. I don't need to access any other PC in any network--I'm just learning the language at this point. Any ideas? I did remove some prior versions of SQL Server '7' which helped remove some other unrelated error messages, and, like I say, from inside the Administrator account I can program and create databases using the Serve...
