Edrawings In PowerPoint

  • Follow

Anyone know of any known issues when opening an e drawing in
Powerpoint.

I can get a SWX2007 edrawing to automatically run in PPT 2003 but it
will not work in PPT 2000 when my client tries to add it to their PPT
presentation.

If there is an issue anyone know of a fix or workaround or is it just a
case of Monday morning dumbness!.

What happens (or doesn't) is that when you insert the object you cannot
enable features and browse to the Props page.

Thanks.

Forget it - it was my client being dumb

Problem sorted

Well, I too must be dumb, as this is the first time I've heard of using
eDrawings inside PPTs.

I read up on the eDrawing Help file and now I'll try it myself.

Thanks - Bo

Kev,

What you did is known as a client "Upgrade".

A colleague of mine tells me there is a Dassault utility that was developed
for Catia which also works for SWX that allows you to embed a 3D XML object
into any Office app, including PowerPoint.

You have to have the utility / add-in installed on your PC, but the adantage
then is that the PowerPoint presentation (for example) doesn't require
eDrawings to be fired up as a separate app, loading a separate file. You
can manipulate the CAD model directly from within the Office app.

Sounds interesting, and when I get time I'll give it a try.
