JPEG-LS and JPEG-lossless

  • Follow

Hi all,

I'm currently working on a project optimising code for JPEG-LS and
JPEG-lossless data compression. For reasons of fast verification I'm looking
for a viewer or comparable software (mainly free- or shareware) to view the
compressed files (file extension *.ljpg and *.jls).
Unfortunately I don't know any viewers supporting this format. Any help is
highly appreciated!

As for JPEG-LS, http://www.hpl.hp.com/loco/ has a software for download.
It's not a viewer, but a command line image format converter from and to
ppm and pgm. They now seem to ask you for an email contact, though I
seem to remember having gotten that software without any contact
information, but I don't remember whether from that side or another. The
hp reference implementation seems to come for free otherwise.

JPEG-1-lossless is a completely unrelated standard (though from the same
comittee). I'm not sure whether the IJG implementation covers it, though
AFAIK Pegasus at www.jpg.com offers a free trial version of PICTOOLS
which should include it.

So long,

for JPEG-1-lossless there is software available on Digital Database for
Screening Mammogrphy (DDSM) site (
http://marathon.csee.usf.edu/Mammography/Database.html ). It is really old
and buggy, but it is the only software I know, which can deal with that
format. And it's available with complete sources, of course.
