### ZipGenius has too many bugs .... what other freeware zip programs work?

• Email
• Follow

I installed the recommended ZipGenius based on threads in this newsgroup. I
have version 6.0.2.1060 and was 'learning it' when I found it has major
bugs.

I zipped 3 small txt files. Changed #1 and #2. Did a few drag and drops of
my txt files onto the zip file (there is a quick progress bar as something
happens) to find I sometimes end up with files #1, #1 and #2. Why dups and
what happened to #3?

Doesn't ANYTHING work right? I can't use this.
Is it just me or is ZipGenius pretty buggy?

What zip freeware is robust and recommended by users?

TIA,
Amanda W.

Try 7zip. It produces zip files in addition to its own formats with
better compression. It has a GUI but can also be run from the command
line. It is free and open source.
Some benchmarks: http://cs.fit.edu/~mmahoney/compression/text.html#1850

Possible BUG: Default zip for Windows debug build is pythonXY_d.zip
Hi. I think there's a bug in the code which builds sys.path for Windows. The default zip archive file name in the debug build of Python is pythonXY_d.zip and not pythonXY.zip. I'm not sure if this is intentional. The zip import PEP doesn't mention it, nor does it the code implementing it (PC/getpathp.c) You can see that on Unix the zip archive name does not depend on the type of build (or so it says in the PEP below). If it's a bug it's caused by the fact that the name of the Python DLL is used and that that name includes _d in the debug build. PEP 273: We add one n...

Program that worked in SuSE 10.0 doesn't work in SuSE 10.2
Hello NG, I have been trying to use a mesh generation program called LS Ingrid, but I get memory allocation errors as you can see below. I have never got such problems with SuSE 10.0 but I am getting them in SuSE 10.2. What default setting has changed between the versions that I should reverse? Bug Bounty program Hi, I'm (I mean the company I work for) slightly blocked in the developement / deployment of a new website due to a bug in php. We reported it about 6 weeks ago. I don't think it's a big job to solve but it requires knowledge of the internals of PHP and access to a x86_64 plateform. The company is obviously OK to put some cash to have this fixed. Is there a marketpalce somewhere where I could put the bounty offer. Cheers. -- Thomas What type of bug of php did you got? Have you reported to php.net?
