ZipGenius has too many bugs .... what other freeware zip programs work?

  • Follow

I installed the recommended ZipGenius based on threads in this newsgroup. I
have version 6.0.2.1060 and was 'learning it' when I found it has major
bugs.

I zipped 3 small txt files. Changed #1 and #2. Did a few drag and drops of
my txt files onto the zip file (there is a quick progress bar as something
happens) to find I sometimes end up with files #1, #1 and #2. Why dups and
what happened to #3?

Doesn't ANYTHING work right? I can't use this.
Is it just me or is ZipGenius pretty buggy?

What zip freeware is robust and recommended by users?

TIA,
Amanda W.

Try 7zip. It produces zip files in addition to its own formats with
better compression. It has a GUI but can also be run from the command
line. It is free and open source.
Some benchmarks: http://cs.fit.edu/~mmahoney/compression/text.html#1850
