DAT and IX Files
I have a customer database I need to read. I think it's btrieve, but it
exceeds what I've seen before in btrieve. The good news is that I have ddf
files. The problem is the data files have an extension of DAT and the
indexes IX. In the past, all btrieve databases I've experienced I've been
able to open with Pervasive.SQL V9.
Any suggestions on how to open this database for odbc reading?
Thanks,
Bernie

Found the answer. It's not a btrieve file, it's a B-Tree file created with
Turbo Power's Filer product. Sorry for wasting the bandwidth.

I realize that you already have your answer but this information is
for the rest of the folks out there.
1) I have seen "Btrieve" data sets larger than 100GB (yes that is Giga
not Mega). And for the most part the customers are happy.
2) The file extension just doesn't matter for the engine (except for
the DDF files). They can have .btr and .mkd are the common ones .dat
is less common but still used. The file extension is not restricted
at all so it could be .txt, .zip or even none as the database engine
doesn't really care.
3) The engine can deal with "external" key files. Or at least that is
what I am led to believe based on some of the utilities options. I
have seen many systems but have never seen that option used though.
