Pervasive.SQL 7 and Netware 5.1

  • Follow

OK, apologies in advance for a pretty unusual question, and the
cross-posting in dBforums...

Up until a botched backup and restore last week one of our customers
somehow had Netware 5.1 working with a 20 license Pervasive.SQL 7 engine
(originally they were running Netware 3.x and P.SQL 7 and then did an
upgrade to Netware 5.1 followed by a 'fix' to keep P.SQL 7 working). The
built-in Pervasive.SQL 2000 was not being used.

Now when we try re-installing Pervasive.SQL 7 and re-applying the
license disk it all seems to work but it's the Pervasive.SQL 2000 engine
that starts up every time the machine is rebooted...and it only has the
2 built in licenses. They don't want to throw away the version 7 engine
and licenses but are getting to the stage when they feel they have no
choice and will have to purchase Pervasive.SQL 2000 licenses.

Has anybody else managed to setup Netware 5.1 and Pervasive.SQL 7?
Unfortunately my knowledge of Netware is pretty limited - the main
support guy who helped set this up left recently.

Neil,

there is a small DOS Batch File available which removes the complete
Pervasive 2000 modules from a Novell 5.X Server, including the
installed Licenses.
As far as I know, I received this Batch File from Pervasive Customer
Office in Ireland. (already a few years ago)
I'll have a look at my Server soon. I might have it somewhere.

Much appreciated.

Maybe this batch file is the 'fix' that got the Netware 5.1 +
Pervasive.SQL 7 combination working last time. I'll mention it and see
if it jogs anyone's memory.

Bill,

Many thanks. Once I take a look at the batch file I might be back with
some questions :-)
