"Not enough disk space error"

  • Follow

I have a set of Filemaker databases, that are automaticaly backed-up, using
the the "save as" script command.

This has worked fine on Win98, having just upgraded to WinXP Home, I am
getting the following error;

"There may not be enough disk space to complete this operation. FileMaker
Pro will not be able to open the file if this operation fails. Proceed
anyway?"

There is 35Gb left on the disk, and the database set is less that a 1M.and
the folder is not set as read only.

Any suggestions

I am not sure if this is documented issue, but have the same problem
when running ver 4.1 on Win XP as well. Assuming you are running this
backup via script, you can circumvent this behavior by adding the [Set
Error Capture (On)] script step to the beginning of the script. Keep in
mind that if for some reason the forced backup can't be completed your
original file, will in all likelihood, be irreparably damaged. So make
sure you have an additional backup before proceeding.

Just a thought, but have you tried saving it to a smaller volume, like a
zip or mounted server volume? (that 35 is just a hair bigger than 32
which is one of those magic numbers is tickling my brain).
