Error Message on Start - corrected

In trying to open a database, I am getting two error boxes. The
first says, "The script cannot be found or has been deleted." After
clicking OK, the second box comes up "The previous script step,
"Perform Script", could not be completed because of an error. Do you
wish to continue with this script?" If I click either Continue or
Cancel, my database seems to open normally. I tried Recover but the
problem persists. What has happened and what should be done?

One of the files must have used a startup script that, in turn, called a
sub-script which has been deleted. You can hunt down the offending file and
missing script by checking to see what scripts are called on open
(Preferences/Document), and looking there to see what sub-scripts are
missing.

Unfortunately, Recover was not the right choice. Recover makes a somewhat
brutal attempt to recover lost data, possibly at the loss of some file
structure. Recovered files ought never be returned to service. They may work
forever without problem, but they may not, and there is no test to find out
if damage has been done. Replace the recovered files with non--recovered
copies.
