Does anyone know a plugin that can start a script upon a Tab selection ??
since FM9 didn't add this feature in the new version, and doing tab with
container field to change the look of a press tab etc etc it's long and not
productive and not easely re-do a layout design without to making new
pictures etc etc...
or maybe a way with an Event plugin that can trigger a scipt, maybe a way
that I don't know ??

Put a pushbutton on the Tab control, and define the button to call the
script of interest.
You can make the button transparent if you wish.
For email, change <fake> to <earthlink>
Have you tried this? A button is ignored when it is over a tab
control in 9.0. transparent or not. Unless there is a special way to
do such that I am not aware of?

Tabs in FM 8 Can someone give me a brief rundown of using tabs in FM 8 and why they
seem not to be able to be scripted.
Is it not possible to write a script that automatically selects the
layout and a specifc number tab, or a tab with a specific name?
Anyone know if this is a simple thing FM might add in an update?
Is there a plug-in that can deal with this shortcoming?

Tabs on top of Tabs This is probably a very stupid question but for the life of me I
cannot figure it out. I have a form with tabbed pages and on one of
the pages I want to put more tabbed pages. When I put the sub tabbed
pages on the page I want it shows up on all pages. This is annoying.

FM to SQL or SQL to FM? I'm trying to get my FM8 database into a SQL2005 server. While I've
seen a few descriptions of how to do this and dabbled with the FMpro
Migrator; I haven't gotten a good sense for what is the easiest way to
do this. Should I use SQL DTS to import the data from FM or the ODBC
connectivity? Basically, I know FM and not SQL; but I need to get FM
into SQL (about once a day...not afraid of some manual labor to achieve
this). If someone could provide some instructions taking into account
that I've got basic SQL knowledge it would be greatly appreciated. I
can't be the only ...

I have a data window with several tabs, and I wish to stop access to
some tabs until certain data has been entered, I've tried
self:oTPTab:Hide() and self:oTPTab:Disable() but that didn't work,
what should I do?
I don't hide them, but make all controls readonly

Tab control within another tab control I am creating a form with a tab control containing 10 tabs. and what I
want to do is on only on of the tabs, I want a sub section of tabs.
So what it ends up being is one main tab control with another tab
control embedded into only one of the tab pages. The problem I am
getting is when I insert the sub section tab control into one of the
tabs from the main tab control, the sub section tab control appears in
every tab in the main tab control. Can anyone help? What do I need
to do so it only appears in one tab, not all.
As you found, you cannot place a tab control on one of the pages...

Which browser tab? I'm having a nightmarish scenario where users are opening multiple tabs

Is there a way to either (1) force cookies to exist only in ONE browser
tab, or (2) figure out which tab sent up each request?
Thanks in advance.

That is a nightmarish scenario only for the clueless and the short-sighted.

FM caching Hi All,
On Windows, does anyone know how to manipulate where FM caches?
Our Windows network is setup to only allow a 30mg roaming profile limit.
FM6.04 seems to be caching about 15megs of scratch data into Documents
and Settings/application data/filemaker/6, annoying the user with a
"your profile space has been exceeded" message.
When the user closes FM it cleans itself out.
I have set the users and the machines enviroment to make temp and tmp
directories off profile (c:\temp).
I can find no settings in FM to set cache location.
Can anyone help?

Tab and focus If in the textarea (textarea3), the value is not "abc", and the user
uses "Tab" to go to the next textarea (textarea4), it will alert an
error message...and the focus will return to the textarea (textarea3)
It works in Internet Explorer, however in firefox it does not work?
Anyway have any ideas why & how?

control-tab Hey folks,
I've got a JTextField that I'm trying to trap the tab key for.
By using the processKeyEvent (I think, I don't have my code in front of
me) and overriding the isManagingFocus event to always return true, I
was able to capture tab and shift-tab without a problem. Control-tab
still isn't trapped though. Anyone know what I'm missing to be able to

go to a TAB If you use the Tab control in the newer versions of FMP, can you set a

Go to Object is the script step you need. You can assign object names to
tab panes in FMP 9 or later IIRC. When using FMP 8, where...
Textarea and tabs Hi all,
Thank you in advance. Here is the issue: I need to create a page that
allows users to copy the contents of a MS Word document and paste them
into a textarea. All fine and dandy...but the tabs. I don't need to
keep the formatting, just the tabs. Is there any way to detect the tabs
and change them to four spaces or something similar? If you have any
other ideas please let me know.
Thanks again for your help,
The email address is valid and I do check it.

From Paradox to FM Hi guys,
I have an old application made on Corel Paradox Runtime and my client
said me that it's developed in Paradox 8 db level 5.
I don't know anything about Paradox but I see it is a database file
I didn't find any export function in the application.
FileMaker can import data from Paradox? There is an ODBC driver that I
Exploding FM Does any one know why my feature tree explodes some parts in an

Are they in folders?

No, there are no folders. Some subassys explode to show 2-3 levels
down and some parts show individual features.

Drawing on Tabs Hi all - I have an application where my main frame has a tabbed interface,
and each tab has a JPanel.
I would like to draw a line graph on the second tab (the first tab is where
data is entered) and a bar graph on the second tab.
The problem I have is how to draw on the second or 3rd tabs.
I googled and one solution was to subclass the JPanel and then override the
paintComponent() method. I tried but it doesn't seem to work. I am probably
just doing it wrong.
How would I go about defining/extending the JPanel class? or is there some
other container that would serve this purpose better?...
ffl and tabs Hi,
Should an ANS forth compiler accept names with tabs?
According to the ANS specs, CREATE should parse names delimited by
space. So the question is: should a TAB be considered a space?
I ask this because the md5 module in ffl has some tabs after some
