Fonts in merge fields
FMP 10 on OS 10.6: I have a text field formatted for Verdana 14 for
input.
I put the same field as a merge field on a print layout and format the
object for Arial 9. Turns out the output is Verdana 14 and formatting
the merge field resp. the text object doesn't seem to work. Is that
normal behaviour?
I created calc fields with fonts and size removal functions in order to
get the my result, so it's no biggy, I'm just wondering.

When you apply a style to a text selection, such as the choice of a
font, this text selection will retain that style when displayed
elsewhere, unless you remove the style.
The text format of a field is used for the display of unstyled text. So
you can have a layoutfield showing this text in one style and at the
same time a merge field or second layout field showing this text in a
different style.
When you just type into an empty field, you see unstyled text displayed
in the field's text format. You can change this format using the
inspector in layour mode.

Yep. There should be no problems for ordinary Text Field / Merge Field
formatting. The problems occur when the stored data has been changed to
manually overrides the Text Field's formatting. This usually happens due to
pasting data into the Text Field from elsewhere, but can also be done by the
user (even accidently via keyboard shortcuts for bold, italic, or font size,
etc.).
