I'm looking at taking a contract to add one checkbox type field to an
existing filemaker database, and to create report based on the data in
that field and to write a script that writes a page of html out of
that report. I haven't used filemaker in years, don't have any
documentation and I will have to work on site, so I can't just play
around with filemaker at home on my pc. I am fairly familiar with
mysql and java, etc. So, where do I start?
I'm kind of assuming I'll be able to add the field to the database by
just using the pulldown menus and etc. Is that true?
Can anyone tell me quickly how to create a report using the gui? ie,
give me a list of all the records that have the checkbox checked.
Then, are there built in html building tools?
There was a programmer who built some scripts to build html on the
fly, and he was able to add his script to a pulldown menu. How do you
do that?
Since this other guy already wrote some scripts, is it likely that
he's got some templates already made that I can use? Where would I
find those?
Basically from the report I'll need to link out to the existing html
pages of the records that had the check box. Any hints on how I'll be
associating a record on that report with a url on the site? Will I
have to hack thru the other dude's code to figure out his system? How
can I even see his code and edit it?
Anyway, thanks for any leads,
Bagus
