Merged, but Separate

Filemaker Pro 6 on Mac 10.5.
I would like to merge two databases with identical fields, but still
be able to tell them apart at a later date. Is there a simple way to
do that outside of adding a field, like perhaps color code one set and
have it retain that property, before I merge them?

Nope. FileMaker can't do magic or read minds ... yet. ;o)

You will have to add a Field unless there is already a Field that can be
used to keep them in two separate groupings. The easiest way would be to
make a new Field in one file, set it to "File1" for all the existing
records. Then import the records from File 2 and set the Field for all those
records as "File2".

Thanks. I think I'll add a small record number and track it that way.
