Pictures and FIle Size

  • Follow

I work with both FileMaker 4 and FileMaker 5 in an educational setting. When
I bring images into FMP either by pasting into a container field or pasting
into the background in layout mode, the file size grows by much greater
amounts than the apparent size of the picture that I add.

Are there memory efficient ways to add pictures to container fields?

Hi George,

in stead of pasting the picture, choose insert > picture from the menu. In
the file selection dialog, check the "store only a reference to the file"
option. If you do this, it's vital that the pictures are in a fixed place on
your drive/network though.
