Restoring page setup

  • Follow

Hi all,

I am having some trouble getting a printscript to send information to
the correct printer on a microsoft network.

To get a report I have composed a script that combines several layouts
and several different page set ups. I designed a different printscript
for each layout and combined all the script into one big script for the
report. We are using 2 printers in a network and all the scrips have
been designed for one of those printers.

When the script is called it works fine from the computer I designed the
script on. The other computers keep sending the information to the wrong
printer however.

What is going wrong!?

Thanks

Gert

The saved Page Setups information doesn't store which printer you're
using, just information like page size, landscape/portrait, etc. As
you've probably found out, they also don't work with other makes/models
of printer either, so if you ever change printers (buy a new one, etc.)
you'll have to re-do and re-save all the Page Layouts.

To get the current printer and files working, you'll need to set those
other computers to have the correct printer as their default printer
and then your FileMaker scripts should work as they do from the
original one.

FileMaker cannot change printers itself, but there are a few plug-ins
and hacks tho do that (eg. an AppleScript hack for the Mac).
