Does anyone know how to execute an exe file from filemaker?  I am trying to
use a button in Filemaker Pro to run an executable file in windows.  Is
there a way to do this?  Thanks for your help.

I think on windows the Open URL script step might also do it.  You just
provide the path to the exe as the URL.

If you use the Send Message script step, just pass the file path to the exe
in the message part of the send message options.
