Chavan,

This is the link I have for the Forrester report and it worked for me just
this AM. If you are using a different link, let me know and I'll have IBM
check it out.

https://www.ibm.com/services/forms/signup.do?source=sw-infomgt&S_PKG=infmx-forrester-ap

The only think I noticed is that, unusually, it downloaded to my browser's
downloads list/folder silently except for the <download complete> notice
from the web site itself and I had to go looking for the file there.

ImpactStudy - Link Does not work
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
There's something curious going on. I received the "Discover the New Face
of Informix - Informix Business Partner Newsletter" from Ted Wasserman a
couple of weeks ago. This has a link to the "Quick Reference Tool for
Informix Business Partners" (
https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/wikis/display/im/Quick+Reference+Tool+for+Informix+Business+Partners),
which itself has a link both to the Forrester report and a "Download the new
Forrester analyst report showing the TCO of Informix is at least 31% less
than SQL Server"
https://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/iwm/web/signup.do?source=sw-infomgt&S_PKG=infmx-itg-report

Quite a palaver to get to, and I suspect that if you're not already an IBM
acoltyte you can't get to it at all through this route, as I needed to use
my "IBM ID".

Forrester is of coourse one of the big US IT research analysts.

The "Forrester" report on Informix TCOt relative to that of SQL server is
not in fact a Forrester report at all but is written by someone called
International Technology Group. I've never heard of these guys: they don't
seem to have a website and are based in a shopping centre in Los Altos,
America (and according to Google Maps are situated handily for something
called 'Hooters', whatever that might be), and according to Financial
records they have "1 to 4" employees, so one of the smaller analysts it
seems.

Anyway, the question is: "Who is the target market for these two papers?".
And if the answer is "The general database-buying corporations", is it
really easy enough for them to access?? In a Google search for "Forrester
Consluthing Informix" the 4th ranked entry - Fernando Nunes's excellent
blog - has links to both, but to to each the user has to register. (The
first-ranked, an un-named blog, also contains a link to the Forrester report
only).

Are we really so innundated with new businesss that we can afford to put
these barriers in the way of getting what sparse publicity there is?

Both reports are linked to the Insider that went out recently. Yes, they
require you to fill in 3 or 4 fields and optionally opt-in to receive a
contact from IBM. Why not? The intent is to reach companies considering
SQL Server as their RDBMS and the links will also be made available to that
community through other distribution channels.

Thank you all.
