Oh Neil! If that part of UNIX power confuses you, what does the rest do?
Try man ls, it has some wonderful options for removing your confusion.

If you want to meet the masters at trying to use symbolic links to confuse
you, then speak to Sun. ;-)

Informix User Forum 2006 - 2 day Informix Technical Conference for Users by Informix Users
A two-day Informix User Group Technical Conference - Friday and Saturday, December 8-9, 2006 The Washington Area Informix User Group (WAIUG) based in Washington, DC, and the Southeast Informix Users Group (SEIUG), based in Atlanta, GA, are teaming up once again to present Informix User Forum 2006. This will be the premiere Informix regional user group technical conference in the world. This is a user conference planned and run by Informix users for Informix users. I have been putting together the Washington Area Informix Users Group Forums since 1994 and last year's was the best event we have done to date. We had over 170 participants from 8 countries and 30 states in the US. There were 14 sponsors with products for the Informix user community. There were 32 technical presentations, by speakers who are Informix developers from IBM and DBA users from around the world. The message was very clear from IBM that Informix is a critical product and will continue to have a great future. The message from the users attending was also very clear, no other product does the job of Informix and we are loyal to what works. To view the results and presentations for last year's forum visit: http://www.iiug.org/waiug/present/Forum2005/Forum2005.html This years Forum looks to be even better then last year. We are very please to announce our Keynote Speakers --------------------------------------------------- * Friday, 8:00am December 8, 2006 Ambuj Goyal, General M...

Re: 5.5 to 6.5 upgrade #2
One very important step to take is to verify that the subsystem tape contains all of the subsystems you currently have on your system. What can occur is that you purchased a new subsystem (100BT, Mirror/IX or others) after the subsystem tape was made or that you never added the purchased product to your support contract, so it was never included on the subsystem tape. There is little worse that doing an OS update and you find out that the 100Tt network(or other critical items) now does not work as the drivers were not on the tape you updated from. This is an excellent question - I'm sure Malcolm Spence will pitch in when he has a chance and I suspect that OCI will be supporting TAO 1.4 in due time. None of the changes in TAO 1.4 should affect the relevance of the info in the TAO 1.3 developer's guide - there's just more new stuff to document as time permits. Take care, Doug ...

RE: Compilation problem with wxMSW-2.4.2 and BC++ 5.5 #2
Do you have the compiler flags set to non-default values - specifically the next file after glcanvas.cpp is gsocket.c and by default BCC32 will compile this a c rather than c++ - however I seem to remember that in 5.5 you could change the defaults - try a bcc32 -h and see if the -P option is turned on. Hope this is a help but that is the most noticeable difference around glcanvas.cpp so may be the problem. -----Original Message----- From: Beverly Ng [mailto:bevjoyng@yahoo.com] Sent: 01 September 2004 13:55 To: wx-users@lists.wxwidgets.org Subject: RE: Compilation problem with wxM...

Based on this thread, I may well have to go down that route... My Informix knowledge is very limited....!?! What I will probably do is: 1. create the soft link from /dev to get informix up and running on a different machine. 2. On this new machine: Add a mirror chunk to each dbspace and drop the original mirror to effectively relocate the databse to the filesystem. If I have no joy with step 2, I will run with the soft link from /dev. This will have to be documented well so that if someone destroys /dev (through devfsadm or similar) then the links can be recreated easily. Its not ideal but its preferable to unloading and reloading the whole database, which has its own risks. Thanks for the advice.. Matt onbar has a -rename option... sending to informix-list ...
