Environment and Application Domain between ASP.NET & SQL Server

Hi all,

I have posted the same topic under ASP-NET-Developers but had no reply;
I then posted it under ASP.Net Community and had also no reply.
Hence, i'm posting it here to prevent the impression of spam post ...

I have created a SqlContextTrigger using ADO.NET 2.0 to create a
trigger on
SQL Server 2005.

In the class, I create a file and specify its path to be in the
Application
Domain base directory such as:

String Path = AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory.ToString()

However, the path is always the SQL Server Binn Directory. I'd like to
tell
the program that I want the path to be related not to SQL Server Binn
Directory but to Visual Studio Solution's Project Bin Directory.

How do I do that?

Best regards

I doubt that you will find anything built-in that will do this. The trigger
thread is running in SQL Server and has no knowledge of your client folder
structure nor a means to access it.

One method to accomplish the desired result is to store the desired target
path in a table so that you can retrieve the value from within your trigger
code. If the path is remote, you'll need to use a UNC path and additional
security considerations apply.

I'm not sure what you are trying to do but you might take a look at Service
Broker.

Hope this helps.

mvBase Server application & Pervasive SQL application on Same Server
I have a project to put two different applications, in two different databases, onto a single server. I am seeking input from anyone who has attempted a similar project. One application is in mvBase 1.3.02, while the other is in Pervasive SQL. In a secondary situation, we'll have one application in mvBase 1.3.02, and another in SQL Server. Both, or all of these databases seem to grab as much free memory as they can, and not relinquish said memory back to the system resources pool. I will be closely monitoring the system wide parameters and the individual parameters of each application database, even profiling them, with a extremely lightweight, yet thorough monitoring process. Are there any good resource partiioning products out there, that do not introduce a whole bunch of significant overhead on their own, that would limit how much memory eack of these databases has access to? Operating System will be Windows 2000 Server. Appreciate any experienced input, or other general advice or suggestions, from inside, or outside "the box". Thanks! -- Regards, Scott ...

Problems when trying to build Connection to SQL Server Express from ASP.NET application
Hi, I have a problem, when I want to access to my SQL Server Express database from my ASP.NET application. My workstation ID is KITOLAP-HP My username is user01 Now I built the following connection String (VB.NET): Dim workstation As String = System.Environment.GetEnvironmentVariable("computername") connectionString = "workstation id=""" & workstation & """;packet size=4096;user id=user01;integrated security=SSPI;data source=""" & workstation & "\SQLExpress"";persist security info=True;initial catalog=webshop" connection = New SqlConnection(connectionString) Although I put as user id "user01" the application makes an error when I try to open the connection, saying that the login with user "aspnet" failed. How can I change it so that as login-user "user01" is taken and not "aspnet" or otherwise, how can I create a new user in the SQL Server database with which I could access the DB?? thanks, kito Your connection string contains a mix of both SQL authentication and Windows authentication methods. For SQL authentication, specify User ID and Password and omit the Integrated Security keyword. For Windows Authentication, specify only Integrated Security=SSPI and omit the User ID and Password so that the Windows process identity is used. > How can I change it so that as login-user "user01" is taken and not > "aspnet...

ASP.NET Application
First off, sorry if my cross posting offends anyone. I'm posting this in Access and SQL Server groups - not sure which one is appropriate. I have a relatively simple ASP.NET/VB.NET application that is now hitting an Access 2000 database over an intranet. We have to migrate the database to SQL Server 7. My experience with ASP.NET is pretty limited and my experience with SQL Server is nonexistent. We have an MSDN subscription, so I went to the downloads section to get SQL Server 7. Guess what? SQL Server 6.5 is available, as is 2000 and 2005, but no SQL Server 7. So my first question is, does anyone know if it is available for MSDN subscribers? The next question is, does anyone know of a good resource that explains how to make the transition from Access 2000 to SQL Server 7? I know the data has to be migrated and the connection between the application and the database modified, but am really not sure exactly what to first and the correct way to go about it. The application is a simple product configurator. There's not a lot of data and it's not a very complex database. Thanks in advance. If you'd like, please copy responses to lcifers(AT)yahoo.com (AT) = @ TIA. Search multiple MS Access database files via asp.net web application
Hello all, We have a payroll application that runs with MS Access. It is comprised of several different database files and one ms access mdb file for each client. This means there can be from 10-1000 different MDB files. We have a web application that we designed to do various things with this payroll application. One of the problems is I want to be able to find what databse a specific piece of information belongs too. For example...We have a last name, or a social security number but we do not know which client it belongs to. So I want to be able to type in that info and find out which client that name or SSN belongs to. I do not have the ability to change any settings of these databases. I can only READ the data. I am thinking of making an "Index" of sorts that runs every night that compiles the various information (employee names, social Securty numbers, etc...) into XML files (one xml file for field) that contains the client database name and the field value. So that when a search is performed it is rather quick. Then it can re-index every night to get the latest information. When a match is found it displays the name of the client that it belongs too. Does this make any sence? I am stuck at this point. I'm not sure if this is the best way, or if I should just search each database everytime, one at a time (zzzz)?
