Exporting a MS-SQL database

I have an asp site connected to an MS-SQL database, I need to export
the database and import it in to a MySQL database? How would I be able
to do this? My only way of communicating with the MS-SQL database is
via asp scripts.

Thank You
Ben Sagal

PS. i have no problem fixing the SQL code manually to be compatible
with MySQL.

Do you know? If so, please answer this post. Thanks. I think it comes down to semantics. "Licensed" vs "Loaded". No you can't create an app that will run on a PC with nothing loaded. Yes you can create an app that will run on a PC where nobody's paid the fee to run MS Access. You still have to install something on that PC, however. What it is is a freebie version of MS Access that only runs applications - doesn't allow anybody to develop an app. You develop the app on your PC, which has MS Access installed. Then somebody installs the freebie ("Runtime Access") on somebody's PC and they can run the app you developed without having to pay any money to anybody. -- PeteCresswell Sue, If Access isn't present, some version of it must be installed to run an Access database. MS Access Script to import data from external mde database to mdb database
Hi, Does anyone know of a way I can write a script that imports a table from a particular .mde file? I don't seen any obvious way to do it as a macro. Any suggestions if it can be done as a macro or as a written module? My ultimate goal is to have script that clears info out of 1 table in an .mdb file, imports an identically structured table from a .mde file, runs an append query I have in place to copy the data from the imported table to the table in my.mbd file, and then delete the imported table. Any help that could be provided would be greatly appreciated. Best wishes, George Hadley ghadley_00@yahoo.com With DBEngine(0)(0) .Execute "DELETE * FROM Suppliers WHERE SupplierID IN (SELECT SupplierID FROM Northwind.mde.Suppliers)" .Execute "INSERT INTO Suppliers SELECT * FROM Northwind.mde.Suppliers" End With Is this code I would run as a module? Yes or you could use the strings in two separate saved queries. ...

Tomcat 5.0.28 and MS-SQL Databases
I am connecting Tomcat 5 to an MS-SQL database. Everything works fine. But in order to get the pooling to work, I have to create a SQL user and set my app's database to that user's default database. This is fine if I only need to connect to one database. But I'd like to use that login to connect to two databases. In Weblogic, I am able to define the database in the Connection Pool string, e.g. database@machinename:1433. So I can have the same username connect to multiple databases by defining the target database in the app server's connection pool. Is there a way to do this in Tomcat 5? When I configure my Data Source, I use jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://localhost:1433 for the Data Source URL. I use com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver for the JDBC Driver Class. Thanks ...

Have you ever worked with a secure MS-SQL serbver/database?
I was just showing a youngster some MS-SQL stuff on a remote Internet enabled shared server. He logged in with my User Name and Password. I was busy for a minute. Then he said, "This (stored procedure) doesn't seem to have anything to do with the db we talked about." I looked at it and said, "What the hell is that?" It seems he had clicked on the wrong DB. And it was entirely open to him, including data edit. We checked the other DBs ... all the same. I e-mailed tech support and of course they are right on it! Sure .... So I thought about all the MS-SQL servers I had "experienced" over the past five years. And it occurred to me that none of them was secure. Maybe I laughed about these problems when they occurred (as the time the db administrator told me I couldn't add an employee record and I duplicated Stella Woo to append her twin sister and room mate, Deja. We terminated Deja before payroll time. I also moved my nephew from Grade 12 to kindergarten; he was upset when the bus started to come for him only every other day.) Reads of rogue VTI files on my Interland Web site used to turn up DB names, USER IDs and Passwords (not mine; I think mine were reserved for other sites), cleverly d i s g u i s e d, or u n i c o d e d. I could never decide which. When "decoded" they worked. When I contacted Interland about this they said, "No problem, Just delete those files!" UH HUH! That's about the time ...
