All posts should include at least a platform, and a version, both as
accurate as possible.
Crystal balls have since long been sold out here.
Also 'I tried starting the DB service ... but did not help' does not
give any clue as to what happened. Please don't try to be deliberately
as vague as possible, or install a webcam at your site, so we can look
over your shoulder.

Look at the other log and see what it says, then restart the other
application.

You may need to user recently jdbc driver, this seems to be a bug.

"Oracle error occurred, but error message could not be retrieved from Oracle" error when restarting application
Hi, we're using Oracle 10g, in combination with Delphi (7). Application uses Oracle client dll (oraociei10.dll). Quick explenation about the structure (All files are on the network): - A launcher application is started by the client. The launcher application checks an .ini file for the current application versie (.exe filename with a version postfix, e.g. "Application_112.exe"). The launcher starts the executable specified in the .ini file. In this way we can "release" by putting a new .exe file and updating the .ini file. The problem: In our application we've ...

error reading from socket
I am trying to send an integer from Java Client to C++ server. I figured out how to do the conversion. However, I have a problem reading from the socket. This is my code: int DataInputStream::readInt()//reads one integer from the client { int32_t var1; soc->recv((void*)&var1, 4); var1 = ntohl(var1); return var1; } I am assuming that I need a loop, but I cannot figure out which one. I tried all cases that I could imagine, but none of them worked. I MUST use recv function. Here is how it is defined: int recv(void *buffer, int bufferLen) throw(SocketException) { int rt...

(assert-error) tests errors and error messages
I wrote (assert-error) to make sure that a function generates an error, and verify the error message. What do you think? Below is the definition and a few test cases, for Emacs 22.1.50. SQL Error: pqReadData() -- read() failed: errno=0 No error
I am a Postgres novice. I have not done anything in the way of configuring the DB differently from what the defaults are. Here is my problem... I am sending the source text from web pages to the DB (7.3.2) through a dataset in Delphi. The field in the DB table is of the type "text", and the fieldtype in Delphi shows ftMemo (a Blob type). When I "ApplyUpdates" from my application I get the "SQL Error: pqReadData() -- read() failed: errno=0 No error" message. When is an error not an error?
The Java language specification claims in: 8.8.7.1 Explicit Constructor Invocations .... "If an anonymous class instance creation expression appears within an explicit constructor invocation statement, then the anonymous class may not refer to any of the enclosing instances of the class whose constructor is being invoked." Helpfully it gives an example: "For example: class Top { int x; class Dummy { Dummy(Object o) {} } class Inside extends Dummy { Inside() { super(new Object() { int r = x; }); // err...

java.IO.Exception: There is no process to read data written to a pipe Error
Hi, I have a java socket program running on AIX 4.3.3.0 platform. It opens a socket and sends data to our customer over a leased fractional T1 line. The line is always connected. However, periodically, I see "java.IO.Exception: There is no process to read data written to a pipe" error message in my log file. Can anybody tell me in what cases this error message could occur? The other strange thing is that our customer would report that they miss a few messages everyday. And when I compare my log with the customer's log, I found that the two messages reported to ...

Quartus 5.0sp1 -- Error: Unexpected error in JTAG server -- error code 33
I figure I should finally ask about this problem that I've had with every Quartus version I've used (since pre-4.2): The built-in programmer in Quartus stops working after a few sessions -- always. Typically I get one or two successful programming done (using a Nios Dev kit, Cyclone ed) before it fails with: Info: Started Programmer operation at Mon Jul 11 20:54:11 2005 Error: Unexpected error in JTAG server -- error code 33 Error: Operation failed Info: Ended Programmer operation at Mon Jul 11 20:54:11 2005 At this point any attempt at programming is futile and will just repeat the error above. However, closing the programmer window/tab and relaunching Tools/Programmer makes it work again for a bit. It's really kind of annoying, but googling for a solution to the problem didn't turn up anything. While we're at it, why isn't the programmer integrated into the build instead of forcing a manual invokation? SQL Errors: Where is the error?
I have just finished -- I hope I have finished -- some changes to one program of mine that has some hairy SQL. One of the SQL statments is 40 lines long. Granted it could be shorter vertically, but it is still 852 characters long. Occasionally -- read "All too often" -- while wrestling with this program, there would be an error in my SQL syntax. VFP is not terribly helpful with such error messages as Syntax error. Command is missing required clause. These are not terribly useful. Sometimes, I have hunted for minutes before realising that...

Error Code 23: Data error (CRC) with Cdx/Fpt RDD
Hi all, Has anyonce experienced this problem before? Strange thing is: when the app starts, all files are opened (about 100 dbf's) and there are no complains. But as soon as a childwindow is opened with a dbf (with memo field) in form mode, we get this error. I get the feeling this is due to a difference between maintanance of the server (w2k/sp3) and the clients (Xp/Sp1), and would like to read your experiences on this matter. Hans Try this registry fix... Run and reboot and it is quite possible the problem will be gone. www.sherlock.com.au/vo2code/Win2_XPFix.zip ...

Now, this is only happening when the length of the text that I am attempting to update to the DB is large. On smaller text string sizes (ie. simple Web Pages), I get no error and everything posts fine. Is there some sort of setting that needs to be set for large "text" strings on the DB, or is it likely to be an issue with the dataset - ApplyUpdates procedure inside Delphi? Is there a way to increase the buffer for incoming requests? Will this help? Error Reading Socket with AppBuilder
I have AppBuilder v9.1c installed on an XP Pro SP2 system and I'm connected to my corporate network via Firepass 4000 VPN, which is where my source code and databases reside. If I start working on code and don't do a Check Syntax, Run, Save or anything else that goes over the network for about 20 - 30 minutes, I get the following error message: Error reading socket, ret=10054, errno-2 (778) followed by: **Incomplete write when writing to the server.(735) The app event log is filled with: Hanging application prowin32.exe, version 0.0.0.0, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000. After this happens, I need to shut down AppBuilder and restart it. However, it hangs in the background until the VPN is shut down. After AppBuilder restarts, the VPN is restarted and it works until the next time I don't do anything for 20 - 30 minutes. Also, MS IM intermittently hangs, abnormally terminates or just runs slow after the first time AppBuilder is started until the system is re-booted. The app event log is filled with: Hanging application msmsgs.exe, version 4.7.0.106, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.
