oracle 8.0.5 client!

Hello,

I have to install and configure an oracle client on a PC running W2000.
I should use version 8.0.5, apparently becauae the db was developed
using this version.
Well OK i should take advise.
Firstly I cannot seem to find the client for download. Found 9.x
archive sho nuff. but 8.05 client not yet.

Secondly I am concerned that this client (when i get it) wont work
properly on w 2000.

Can anyone offer some advice that will save me a world of pain (or at
least discomfort ;-)

TIA

Tony

Regrettably that isn't possible.
8.0.5 has been desupported in the previous milennium, when win2k didn't
even exist yet.
8i has been desupported too.
Current minimum is 9.2.0.1

805's pretty old... one possible way is to look for 9iAS downloads, some
of which included the 8.0.x client

Drilling down through the certification list, I see 8.0.6 client is
certified with W2000, and is supported under Extended Maintenance
Support. So if you have EMS, ask support!

2GB Problem with Oracle 8.0.5 an Windows 2000 Server
Hi , I have a problem with that database.Every night I make a full export from an Production db an an import to an standby db. Everything runs fine till yesterday. Import ends with an Error 2237 (Invalid file size).I looked at the datafiles and saw the error in the indexfile. The indexfile is 2.02 GB and import will not create such a large file. I've tried to create the indexfile later( with import INDEXFILE=) but import still wants to make a big file.Tonight I'll try the compress option.I hope this works. Oracle 8.0.5
Hi! Am absolutely newbie to databases, I got some tutorials for Oracle, from our school site. I have Oracle 8.0.5 kit ( April 1998 release ), I get it quiet hard because I have a poor connection to Internet, and have just a few friends which knows something about database. Now the questions: I installed everything from the Oracle CD,there are lot of applications, but in every app I try to enter, I get a window asking me for a User+Password information !!!! Even in that poor SQL*Plus... the same story. Did it try to login to server ? I don't want that, I just want to login and create a database , some tables etc I friend of mine said that user : "scott" & passwd : "tiger" , would help, but that just don't work :(((( Every suggestion is welcome.
