What command is attempted to execute
when you try the option? (See 'properties')

Not for 10.1.3 - it's a java process within the home container now...

You got your path wrong - it is trying to execute something in the
10.2 (database) path, that belongs to the 10.1.3 (http server) menu
options
Try to reverse the entries in your path (Contol panel, System, Advanced
environment settings)

I'd rather see the output of
opmnctl status -l

Did you install your em control in the (default) home
container, or did you type in a new name?
If the latter - that container must be started before you
can manage the server (sounds logical, eh? oracle really
blundered with this version!).
As you have no management tool (yet), you *must* do that
from the command line, using opmnctl.

Aaaargh, all these versions.... indeed emctl is not there in 10.1.3... but
it will be (it is) in 10.1.4.... right?

BTW (off topic) ever succeeded in adding a 10.1.3 midtier in a10.1.4
(infra)/10.1.2(midtier) farm?

:)

10.1.4? Don't know, we'll see.
10.1.3 with 10.1.[2|4] infra - never attempted to.
Vaguely remember some remark during installation of
10.1.3 about something, that should be done during
installation - not possible afterwards.

Did you notice a checkbox in the installer 'Administration Settings'
screens? ('Configure this as an Adminstration OC4J instance') If you do not
check this, AS Control is not installed (just found it out the hard way on
one of our own installations). Don't know if it's there in all installer
types, I used the 'SOA Suite' installation set.
