Dear All,
some vendors use NSAP for accessing the SDH nodes. some use TCP/IP.
some vendors use subnet mask for accessing the nodes.
My query is weather the accessing is been specified by ITU ?
And what are the other ways to access the SDH node....

No the access is not specified (nor recommended).

There is ASON that is specified to manage transport networks
(SDH, OTN, PTN). See G.77xx series of recommendations.

NSAP means Network Service Access Point. It's an OSI term.
When an OSI stack is used, the network element is accessed through an
NSAP address,
like when a TCP/IP stack is used, the network element is accessed
through an IP address.

Could I use the occasion of the bus! it's snowing in Paris this
morning...
When it is a TCP/IP stack, is it IP over PPP (over Dn) that is
commonly used?
So we would have, e.g. SNMP > UDP > IP > PPP > Dn.

TCP, because delivery of packets is more reliable.
UDP is best effort.

Yes. It is like the address on a postcard, very necessary
if you want to make sure that the postcard is received by
the person you want to send it to.

However, it should be pointed out that TCP doesn't really know anything
about NSAP - while IS-IS, for instance, does.
The only addresses that TCP knows about are IP addresses...

Is correct.
In general SDH networks are managed by OSI services, which
use IS-IS.

Indeed, and if the OSI service runs over TCP/IP the
IP address is converted in an NSAP address for the OSI layer.
