Need help with AIR AP1231G A K9

  • Follow

Have purchased new a AP1231G & CB21AG.
Worked on this for hours, need a little help.
I connected a serial cable from the AP1231
to my laptop. Was able to telnet in, and do a
config t, and set address in as 192.168.1.4
Closed out telnet, called in IE browser, and
tried to enter address of 192.168.1.4 on
the address line, hit enter. message comes
back the IE can not find that address. Also
in searching the cisco web site, it says to
use the program IPSU, which I don't have.
I tried to download this program, but after
filling out all required information, received
an error that stated It would not download
because my browser cookies were not set.
I have about a million cookies, and never
any trouble at all. I set all cookie setting
to accept all cookies etc..., still same error.
I have on line registered the AP, how can
I receive a copy of the program IPSU.
Thanks in advance.

Guy

Where diid you set the IP address? The FastEthernet0 or the BVI0
interface?

Do really mean "telnet"? Or did you just talk
directly thru a COM port to the console?

I wouldn't mess around with IPSU, which is only
used to discover an AP's IP address, since you
already know (or can set) the address. Rather I
would focus on getting IP connectivity between your
laptop and the AP via the LAN.

What is your laptop's LAN interface's IP address?
Is it in the 192.168.1/whatevermask subnet?
Can your laptop ping other stations in this subnet?

On the AP: what does "show ip interfaces brief" tell
you? Does it show that FastEthernet0 is up/up?

Aaron;

Thank you very much for the reply. I have been
away for a while and just got back. I don't
know what happened, In using the IPSU program
I kept getting messages that stated device does not
answer and device does not answer for setup IP.
I posted same question on the cisco forum, and
received an answer last night. Today I followed
the instructions, was able to make the change and
it started working, and is really fast for wireless.
Now I need to find out about setting up wep and
SSID in both devices. Thanks again. Guy
