It looks like homework. State what you tried and what error messages you
got and someone who knows Matlab will probably help. We try not to do
homework here, but (like gods) we do help those who help themselves.

that's pretty funny, Jerry. when we lived in Portland Maine, my wife
worked as a sorta librarian for a theological library (that was
eventually taken over by Bangor Theological Seminary) and she would
get these calls from people who wanted to know where in the bible it
says "God helps those who help themselves" and other misnomers.
sometimes she could not convince the person it was nowhere in the
bible.

anyway, it's nice to be reminded of such.

CAREFUL! ;!
I see nowhere in Jerry's post that he claimed Scriptural authority for
"... but (like gods) we do help those who help themselves".

"God helps those who help themselves" may be a "proverbial" saying.
"A penny saved is a penny earned" is also a "proverbial" saying.
Never heard later being referred to as being Biblical/Scriptural.

i didn't really intend to imply that Jerry made any such claim. only
that he referred to a sorta cliche that reminded me of a (true) story
that made me chuckle to think about. i shoulda just kept my "mouth"
shut.

sorry, Richard. as i get older, *i* get less tolerant of baloney and
i see an awful lot of it in Americanized "Christianity". like the
post-Constantine Christianity, it really is just a social adjustment
to make the faith conform to a human culture (where God blesses
whatever it is we are and whatever it is that our culture promotes,
capitalism, militarism, slavery at one time, nationalism, etc. and
where God condemns whatever it is that we aren't, like socialism,
internationalism, humanism, moderation, etc.). i'm tired of that crap
and i'm tired of any inference that such is divinely preferred or the
converse divinely condemned. "God is on our side, not yours. That's
why we are righteous when we kill you, but you are wicked when you
kill us." it's shit.

American "christianity" is really a thin veneer applied over the
idolatry our own state and cultural religion. a religion with
sacramental exercizes every weekday morning when the elementary
children line up and put their hands over their hearts to recite what
is deliberately brainwashed into their heads. then they get to do it
again Friday night before the football or basketball game or Saturday
before the baseball game. it's excrement. it's a corruption that
has, for years, deeply damaged the authentic faith of 1980 years ago,
and for years or decades will continue to corrupt the faith by
corrupting people with appeals to greed, to fear, and to people's
natural preference to their own divine preference (our "superiority
complex"). we're better than the other guys so we can kill them or
rendition them or torture them and then even lie about it. we don't
care if the rest of the world hates and despises us. we're so
righteous we can lie about the reasons for invading a country, not at
war with us or any allies, and kill over 100,000 people, spend over $1
trillion of our children's birthright thus denying them financial aid
for college (like we had provided for our generation), universal
health care, or social security for their own retirement (even though
they'll pay dearly into it for our generation's use), and the quality
of environment and quantity of fossil fuel supplies that we took for
granted. petrol, heating fuel, and energy for them will cost a much
larger portion of their income than it had for us. education and
health care for them will cost a much larger portion of their income
than it for us. and then, just to add insult to injury, we'll slap
them with a big national debt (that was proven unnecessary since the
evil Democratic Bill Clinton's admin was able to reverse the national
budget deficit) that they'll have to carry long after we're dead and
buried. we're such nice guys, our generation. we'll do that rather
than to pay a decent gas tax or carbon fuel tax so we can spend less
than half what Europeans pay for energy and will be more free to
squander these non-renewable resources.

it really is shit, Richard.

Nah. There was nothing to aggrieve me and I enjoyed your story even
though I can top it. Some people think that any common saying remotely
connected to religion must come from the Bible. One, who evident;y never
read "Merchant of Venice", insisted that the Bible was the source of
"The Devil can cite scripture for his own purpose" and cited it as
Scriptural affirmation that a devil exists. (I find that contrary to
monotheism, but that's anohter matter.

Not just those who ride on the Sabbath, but the mounts they ride on. And
how does that "unto the third generation" thing grab your sense of justice?

Grooms cherish; brides obey. You wanna make somethin of it?

You mean like two high-school football teams each praying to God for
success in clobbering the other side, while the sanctimonious coaching
stagg administers steroids and Novocaine?

That's so right, I couldn't bring myself to snip it. Dod you know that
the manufacture of bottled water puts as much CO2 into the air as the
output of half a million cars? Distributing it in trucke dumps even more.

> it really is shit, Richard.

The most shitty part is the bland assumption that if you aren't afraid
of going to Hell, you can't be a moral person. What does that say about
the character of those who believe it?

Matlab and DSP.
Hi everybody, I'm a newbie in DSP, and I'm working on the ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) with them. 1- Can I use the Matlab to program DSP without any other compilers (neither C nor Assembler)? (I never program a DSP before.) 2- If yes, which DSP can Matlab program? (I'll probably use the TMS320C2x series). 3- I'm using the 6.5 version (R13), should I pass to R14 or R15? Thanks in advance. Question about DSP in Matlab (beginner)
Hi, I'm starting to learn DSP (Matlab )and I have two questions about it, maybe someone can help me out? I'm trying to measure a frequency from an Audio Device and I'm using FFT to transform it from the time domain to the frequency domain. But I am doing a downsample before the FFT. But you can also do it after the FFT. Do you know what would be the most efficient (before or after)? And why? Another question, I am using zero padding to increase my system resolution (up to 50Hz).
