The "external device" could be a lot of things. I will assume that it is an x-y device such as a mouse with a crosshair attached to it - so you only need to interpret what the mouse is doing in x and in y - the same as is done with any number of computer programs. Next step: how to get from serial mouse to Matlab? Perhaps a simple mouse position-reading program in C/C++ that interfaces to Matlab? That might get rid of any low-level serial port reading requirements. Shape and edge position are two different things, aren't they? I'm trying to measure a frequency from an Audio Device and I'm using FFT to transform it from the time domain to the frequency domain. But I am doing a downsample before the FFT. But you can also do it after the FFT. Do you know what would be the most efficient (before or after)? And why? Another question, I am using zero padding to increase my system resolution (up to 50Hz). My frame length is N=256 and sample frequency fs= 44100 Hz. So 44100/50 = 882, so I need to add 626 zeroes (to 256 frame length) to get 50 Hz resolution, I hope this is correct? I believe this is done for FFT. But is this the same for the DFT? In a simulation how do I estimate these two values?? I have searched lot of forums, boards and mailing lists and I am unable to find a Matla code to estimate the Cyclic Cross Autocorrelation nor the Cyclic Cros Spectrum of noisy signal vectors. I have read some papers by Gardner and Giannikis but they are heavy i maths, that I am not good at, and no pseudo algorithm is presented to hel me implement it in Matlab. Hi everyone! I have a problem while using RTDX to exchange data between target DSK671 and host MATLAB. The problem is the following! When I am running th examples given by mathworks for comunications between the dsk and matla they run with no problem. But the thing is that the examples don't use the dsp/bios, rather the us their configuration files, and I would like to use the dsp/bio configuration file. When I am using the dsp/bios for the configuration I always receive a timeout from the matlab everytime I want to read a msg. And I already los some time to solve this problem, but the timeout is always appearing.. Hello all, I am relatively new to matlab and I came up with a project that I have 39 numbers and I have to find their distribution. I performed a liliefors test and I found that the distribution is not Gaussian.
