Alt key does not work in emacs

  • Follow

Hi,
Does anybody know how can I make alt work as Meta key instead of the
Esc key.
I am working on winxp and using exceed to remote login to other
servers. My keyboard only supports Alt_R or Esc as Meta and not alt_L
there. xev even does not show any keycode for Alt_L.
  Appreciate help...

thanks,
Rajendra

That's Exceed's fault. You have to configure it to send Meta from both Alt
keys ... I'd help more but it's been years since I used Exceed. And yet this
silly default configuration still burns in my head ;)

Hi Scott,
Thanks for hint. I got that working. I configured exceed keyboard to
use Alt_L for exceed Alt and Alt_R as windows Alt.
