VICE Vic 20 tape images? #2

  • Follow

I've been wanting to relive the days of my youth - However, I've been
having trouble finding things to run on VICE.

Even a blank image would be helpfull in allowing me to at least save
stuff (I presume).

Thanks.

I have vice 1.10; it doesn't seem to have that feature. It does,
however, have a create disk image feature that works - Thanks.

As a side note, I can't seem to download vice 1.18. I get a 'File not
found' error.

Hm, yes it appears like the FTP site hasn't been updated with the
most recent versions. Too bad the official VICE page relies on
that site. However, version 1.16 is available and is what I use.

That feature is available in the Windows version of VICE, but is
not present if you compile your own Linux (x86) binary from the
source tarball.

According to the changelog on the news page the ability to create
blank TAPs was added to the Windows version only. Does anyone know
why this feature is restricted only to the Windows build? The source
code is present in the tarball but appears to be ignored during
non-Windows compilation and there does not appear to be a way
to enable it at the configure stage. (Unless I have missed something
obvious.)

It has been like this since VICE 1.5. Would the authors consider
promoting the "create blank TAP image" feature from Windows-only to
run on all host OSs?

1.16 has the timeout bug... crashes after 5 minutes or so.
