Belkin 2-port KVM switch won't work with my 2 Dells
Hi, All: I have a Dell 4500 running XP Pro and a 4600 running XP Home. I bought a Belkin 2-port KVM switch with PX/2 connections (not the USB). When I follow the instructions exactly (power down the computers, connect everything up then power the computers back up) I can see only the login screen from the XP Pro 4500. Neither the keyboard nor the mouse respond, and I can't switch from the 4500 to the 4600. When I connect monitor, mouse, and keyboard to either machine directly, they work fine. This is my second Belkin switch. I thought there might be an out-of-box failure and...

KVM Switch
Looking for reliable, inexpensive (under $60) 2-Port KVM Switch for PS2. Want: 1. Switch via switchbox button as well as keyboard hotkey. 2. Accommodate Linux, Win 9x, Win 2000, Win XP 3. Reliable re: a. I've read that some KVM switches use the keyboard (only) for switching and that they may not accommodate Linux. b. I've read that come KVM switches require a special adapter to run with Linux. c. I've read that some KVM switches are susceptible to the order that the 2 PC's boot, or which PC (if any) is turned on. d. I plan on runn...

2-port kvm switch reccomendations
Any reccomendations for a 2-port USB KVM switch (really only need the KM) that works with a SunRay 1G and an old Dell laptop. A Sun Type 6 USB keyboard and the Sun USB mouse will be used. With the current one we have from Belkin the keyboard doesn't repeat when you hold done a key on the SunRay. Thanks, Neal ...

KVM Switch
I am look for a KVM switch with the following characteristics: 2-port Dual DVI displays USB mouse (I realize that I could use a USB to PS/2 connector but would prefer native USB) USB keyboard Audio switching (both speaker and mic) Extra integrated 2 port switching USB hub Under $300 I do NOT need dual link (1600 X 1200 is more than enough for me). Most of the kvm switches out there seem to be designed for computers circa 1999-2000. Surely I cannot be the only person in the known universe that has purchased 2 computers after 2002 and needs a up-to-date switch? I am not trying...

looking for KVM switch (DVI-I, PS/2, 4-port, hi-res)
I'm looking for a KVM switch that does DVI-I (switches both the digital and analog wires), PS/2 (e.g. the two 6-pin mini-DIN connectors) keyboard and mouse, with 4 input ports ... and most important (because I have found some boxes that meet all but this) support for at least 1920x1200 video. All the boxes I have found so far as limited to 1600x1200 (including one that first came out in 2007 ... well after 1920x1200 was the up and coming widescreen display format). -- |WARNING: Due to extreme spam, googlegroups.com is blocked. Is it possible to make an ordinary PS/2 port based KVM switch work with Sun Servers?
Hi, I have a typical LCD monitor/keyboard unit integrated with an 8-port KVM switch manufactured by Rackmount.com. Unfortunately, the unit only supports PS/2 type of keyboard and mouse ports. Is it possible to use a USB serial port to PS/2 port converter and make the unit work with my SUN servers? Has anyone done this before? Here is the information on the LCD/KVM unit. http://www.rackmount.com/Rackacc/RLK150.htm Thanks in advance! Host with 2 physical ports connected to 2 different switches
I need some help understanding the following situation involving routing, ARP, and MAC tables. Suppose the following situation. Host A has 2 physical ethernet interfaces, each connected to a different ethernet switch, but same layer 3 network. Interface ce0 on Host A has an IP of 10.10.10.2 and is connected to Sw1. Interface ce1 on Host A has an IP of 10.10.10.3 and is connected to Sw2. Host B has 1 physical ethernet interface, ce0, with an IP address of 10.10.10.5 and is connected to Sw1. Sw1 and SW2 are ethernet switches with hundreds of hosts connected to each. Assume eac...

Hi all, can anybody explain me the trade off between a KVM switch and the use of a Desktop sharing software such as VNC viewer ? For one thing, it's going to take a lot of bandwidth to display the remote desktop on your current one - and it will be relatively slow because of that. A KVM switch physically changes your connections from one machine to the other so you are always operati...

KVM switches #2
Does anyone know of any affordable KVM switches that will work with an AlphaStation 255? It's the old business of the Alpha using scanset 3 and the PC something else. It looks like what is needed is a KVM with a keyboard controller for each computer connection which then talks to the keyboard in whatever way it prefers. It looks like a Raritran switch would work, but they're a bit pricey for a 92 AlphaStation at home.
