Java Game- Game can't find it's graphics jar file
My name is Nick Soutter, I own a small game development company
(www.aepoxgames.net) making our first game (www.andromedaonline.net) in
I am writing because we are having a very serious problem, and I was hoping
someone might have thoughts.
Our game has 2 main programs- one is an updater, the other is the game
client. The updater (AndromedaOnline.jar) checks for updates to the
graphics, sound, client, and of course itself. After applying any updates,
the updater runs the client (AndromedaClient.jar) for people to play with.
When players install this program on their systems with...It's on-it's off-it's on, it's off -WHY?
IS THIS THE CORRECT FORUM? Hope so.
We have three computer networked at home...all with Windows XP. one of those
is a laptop. Some mornings all 3 can see each other and transfer
files...then mysteriously one or more will disappear. No contact....then
later it's back. The laptop is the worst. Most often it won't let us
in...but sometimes it will. No obvious reason. The most INFURIATING part is
the message "see your administrator". Dammit Bill Gates...don't you realize
that most networks are small offices without a Majestic Royal Administrator

Yes, Wonder Chimpie-- strange primate from another planet!! Knows
everything about IT (with the exception of a proxy server and how to
kill file). All bow down when he comes around! Thank you, Wonder
Chimpie, for saving us from ourselves!

...id software's Tech 5 powered game 'RAGE' has the best-looking real-time visuals I've ever seen
RAGE looks just completely awesome.
Two reasons why it looks so good, IMO:
1.) RAGE has a very pre-rendered CGI-look to it, even if it's only
comparable to older, low-budget CGI. Yet RAGE is 100% real-time.
Blows away anything I've seen using Unreal Engine 3 or even Gears of
War 2 on the upgraded UE3.
2.) RAGE runs at 60 frames per second from the start, unlike say,
Crysis. id made the (right) decision to go with a 60fps engine after
scrapping a different prototype engine designed around 30fps.
Amazingly, RAGE will look an...90's Game -- Spielberg's "Director's Chair"
This seems like a long shot (get it...long shot?) but is anybody
reading this group familiar with a game called Steven Spielberg's
Director's Chair from the mid-nineties? Actually, it's more of a movie-
studio familiarizer than a game, per se, but it does have its strong
points in terms of recreating a certain, Hollywood-y atmosphere.
I'm curious because, when I run this program on a Windows 2000 box, I
keep hitting an "Internal Error" during my first dip in The Lab. I can
hear the first line of dialogue repeat about three times, then it
shuts me down. Becau...for Steve the plate's polite, to me it's durable, whereas inside you it's joining elder

...Why CD's vice DVD's for U.S. games??
This has been discussed before, but....... Explain to me again why new
games continue to be released in the U.S. on CD's? I just don't get it.
Sure some gamers (maybe a majority in these ng's) homebrew their pc's and
only install CD drives (Why? I can't imagine), but most gamers probably buy
them off-the-shelf from big bundlers.....and for at least the last 3 years
(maybe longer), those pc's have come stock with DVD drives. The only
explanation I've read is: "Well, there's lots of folks in the U.S. with CD
drives who are too stupid to know the d...Hey DoneFoundStupid, let's play the game let's see what you have, huh? I'll ignore your flunkies and your babies when they show. It's just me and you DoneFoundStupid! :) Let me unload some trash talk
...looking for game 'Xchess' by 'Xfun'
A few years ago I inherited the game 'Xchess' in the original box.
Unfortunately there are a few badsectors on the disk.
So I was wondering: anyone out there who has got this game and wants to
send me a copy?
Thanks in advance.
Oh I can proof by the way that I own the original game by sending a scan
of the manual or so.

...Error? s = assignin('base','s',tf('s'));
I need a little help here. Could anyone please tell me what is wrong
with this command?
s = assignin('base','s',tf('s'));
The matlab syntax is -- assignin(ws, 'var', val)
Basically I just want to add s=tf('s') into the base workspace.
