Is there an easy way to prevent tearing using GLUT?

AFAIK, GLUT doesn't allow you to control whether the buffer swap is
synchronised to vertical refresh.

On Windows, you may be able to force vsync via the control application for
the graphics drivers.

Alternatively, you could use GLFW or SDL instead of GLUT. These both
provide interfaces to the swap-control functions (e.g. wglSwapInterval or
glXSwapIntervalEXT).
