Help, can't draw in GIMP. probably some button I pushed?!

Help,

Keep getting the gimp into a state where I can't draw or do anything
to the current image (other than resize operations and save, but no
tools), which I'm puzzled by because it's a 1-layer image, and the
layer has no lock.

If anyone knows what steps I did to lock it up and how can I unlock
it, that would be awesome.

Using Gimp 2.0.1, gtk 2.2.4 on Windows XP

Need help,

You've probably selected a region. Select->None.

Turns out GIMP 2.0.1 has a problem with tablets, and apparently mine
as well specifically a Wacom 'Steel Blue' tablet model ET-0405A-U

The solution I found after a search on Tablets: Modify the GIMP
desktop shortcut to include --ignore-wintab in the Target Section:

"C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\bin\gimp-2.0.exe" --ignore-wintab

Also I neglected to see a black MSDOS window with error messages like
the following:

(gimp-2.0.exe:8896): Gdk-WARNING **: losing last reference to
undestroyed window

(gimp-2.0.exe:8896): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: file gobject.c: line
1320 (g_obje
ct_ref): assertion `object->ref_count > 0' failed

(gimp-2.0.exe:8896): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: file gobject.c: line
1338 (g_obje
ct_unref): assertion `object->ref_count > 0' failed

(gimp-2.0.exe:8896): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: file gobject.c: line
1338 (g_obje
ct_unref): assertion `object->ref_count > 0' failed

No, it's GTK (on Windows) that has a problem with tablets. Many of the
problems have now been fixed (in the source code).

It's not an "MSDOS window".
