Strange error, GIMP 2.24

  • Follow

Hi,

Everytime I start GIMP I get the following message four times before
the main window ("The GIMP") opens:

"There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk in the drive \Device\
    Harddisk3\DR7."

This message (in a alert window whose title is "winsnap") pops up
during other operations, say, when I try to save a GIF of a screen
    shot I just captured.

The version I have is the latest, 2.2.4 (for Windows). My system is
    a Hewlett-Packard a810n, Athlon AMD-64, 512 MB RAM, CD-
    ROM, CD/DVD-RW combo.

Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I get this message too when I have removable disks mounted with no disks
in them (like a CompactFlach card reader without any card in it).

Is there anything I can do to prevent this pop-up message? Once or
twice when I start the program is OK, but after that it becomes an
    intolerable nuisance.

The funny part of this is that when I had 2.2.3 this pop-up message
would appear only two times during the program startup, and that
was it. Now that I upgraded GIMP to 2.2.4 it appears *four* times
at startup and countless times during program use (when I save
files, precisely). I guess I will be downgrading soon, very soon.

Yes, exactly. Well, nothing to do about it oubviously ;-) Except
upgrading the drive's drivers.

Thank you,
