He started a new business, iirc, with Craig Clark. Maybe he's busy with
that.

He has been gone for awhile now.
It was weird how one day he suddenly stopped posting.
Maybe he burnt himself out as he was posting here a lot.
I know he is working with a dude named Craig Clark at
http://www.threewaystudios.com/
I guess you can contact him there.
Cheers,
JS

Was he one of the people that claimed that they wanted to bail
because of all of the Spam that had been slipping into our groups?

Not only spam, but also too much hardware-related discussions, if i recall
correctly :(
And me too, i'm in read only mode: i follow cgtalk.com lately.

No, you must be thinking of someone else. Chris didn't post any fake paintings.
He did post several genuine original works he'd done...including the various
stages of the image as it took shape. Nothing fake there.

Oh this is laughable
You were jealous then and your still jealous months later. Thats like REALLY
sad of you. I included WIP images to show they were genuine at the time, the
grown ups know those weren't faked, I don't have to prove myself to little
people like you, your a jealous nobody, get a grip and live with it

I'm fine thanks :) Just insanely busy, we're doing some work for the new
Blake's 7 series, and I'm snowed under with freelance fun, some of which is
for a well known Lucas company (no its not Star Wars related, I should be so
lucky lol). Aswell as that I've been doing odd design bits on different mods
for fun and in the planning stages of a HL2 mod of my own which should be a
lot of fun to do. So basically very busy and no real time to post anywhere
anymore, though the hardware threads and bitching had ruined what used to be
a great NG, it seems pretty dead these days, I still recognise a few of you
guys, would be good to catch up sometime :). I see the little-un who's
jealous of my talents is still around, someone should change its diapers
with all that crap it keeps producing.

Who knows, I may come back properly someday, though I'm more a XSI / Houdini
guy now and would feel sorta out of place in a LW group. (Yes Houdini, I of
the "it looks like a tomy toy" comments in years past and here I am actually
really liking the thing haha). On top of ressurecting my
painting/designing/concepts side cause I realised I enjoyed that a hell of a
lot more than I remember.. It's a crazy crazy world.. I still use Lightwave
though, Been playing around a lot with some nifty cool plugins for it, its
an oldie but still a goodie and some things are still more enjoyable to do
in LW than XSI

The spam was getting annoying, and the hardware convo's (as someone else
suggests) But mostly I just got real busy real fast and before I knew it it
was weeks later. I have popped in to lurk sometimes though but usually too
rushed to jump into a convo, mostly posting on web forums when I have the
time (again like Houdini, something I hated once and now do a lot, lol
crazy)

I do miss our forum, shame it was pulled, I was having fun beating Orac, and
I woulda to the end if it hadn't gone loopy and triple posted his messages,
damn him lol
But there are some fun things on the horizon though, Zion and the others
are very busy on some great new features that should please the fans no end,
and don't anybody start up a complaint about the logo, Vincent did a great
job and its a very creative version, and far nicer than the original *ducks*
;)

quiet you :P lol.. But yeah I think its really cool, its a curious thing to
get used to, but I really like the way things are modeled in it, seems more
fluid than most, not much of start stop do this then that then start stop
add infinitum.. Oh yeah and the particles go without saying are deffinately
very nice :) Not sure I like the icon approach though, thats been the most
annoying part of it, I prefer text buttons, more time producing work less
time mousing for tooltips to find what button you need

Oh right I meant your keeping him too busy so you don't have time to post.
:>0
Also I've found the most civil Lightwave discussions these days are on the
Newtek and CGtalk forums.

Nah, the actor to play the Doctor has not been decided yet. Tom Baker just
stirred things up by saying he thought Eddie Izzard would be a good choice on a
day time chat show :-)) He started the original 'Dr Who should be a woman'
controversy too ultimately resulting in Joanna Lumley briefly playing the part
on 'Comic Relief' :-)) Gotta love that guy.

You obviously have more knowledge on this subject than me, but I got the
impression from the site that it is still not known which channel will be
running the new version of Blake's 7 when it is actually produced. Maybe the BBC
will have them both...which is something I personally would like to see. The
ITV companies (with the new merger Granada/Carlton approved..that should
probably read ITV Company :-)) or maybe even US run company by 2005...cue
rewrite to include obnoxious brat, really dreadful 'moral' dilemmas and endless
time travel screw-ups...hehe, being B7 they could even include some transporter
anomolies :-))) just could not do it right, they would interfere too much
resulting in a watered down trans-atlantic mish-mash.

Heh good old Tom.. Oh hey you heard those Dead Ringer sketches they did of
him? I think their all still up on the BBC site, very funny clips and worth
listening to, the one where they called Sylvester was good :D

Sky should get it, BBC will bury it cause it'll compete with Dr Who, or
they'll just replace it with snooker or ancient TNG repeats ;)

I wouldn't worry about the B7 story, obviously we're not permitted to talk
about the details, but the writer they have appears to be very good at his
job and from what I've seen its gonna be one hell of a good show. Dr Who
doesn't stand much of a chance im afraid ;)) though I don't know anything
big about what they have planned for Who, I was apparantly considered for
redesigning the Tardis (I think spurred on from those Hoyle designs I did
last year, or so I've been told) Though thats second hand info and I haven't
heard anything directly from those involved on it, so I'm taking it with a
pinch of salt unless I hear differently.
Besides I'm enjoying working on B7 right now, regardless what happens
with it, and currently too busy with everything else to start on Dr Who,
atleast until mid 2004. Course whats the old saying "never say never"? It
would be kinda fun, finish up on B7 then go to work on Dr Who haha that
would be strange (but cool if I got to have my wicked way with the Dalek
design lol!), Who fans are scarier than B7 ones though, mess up on Who and
your living on borrowed time when the fans find out :D
oh hey btw are you getting Sky|one Mix ok your end? seems to be off over
here, other channels appear fine, wanted to watch south park too, damnit lol

Chris,
I'm glad to hear your keeping busy and things are going well.
We've all missed your spirited point of view on things.
Yes I spend most of my time on the Newtek and CGtalk forums these days.
If there is a "what's the best video card" thread at least it is contained
in it's own thread and you can ignore it if you wish. :>0

Not really. Dr Who on Saturday night around tea time (5.15/5.45pm), Blake's 7
back to its original Monday evening slot something like 7.15pm till 8.00pm. Sky
would stick it into a vacant 8.00pm slot as a filler as happens with Andromeda
and Mutant X (of course Mut X keeps moving to different nights too) so it would
get broken up just like if it was on BBC2 :-))
> Oh hey you heard those Dead Ringer sketches they did of him?
Finally got to hear some of those at the recent 'Dimensions on Tyne 3'
convention and to be honest wasn't too impressed. Mind you the story told by
Nicholas Courtney and the script writer (who's name I can't remember) about the
making of 'Dimensions in Time' (the 'special' episode that went out over two
evenings as part of 'Children in Need' and 'Noel Edmonds House Party') was
hilarious :-))

I do have a little knowlwedge about the people doing Dr Who...but can't say
anything either :-))

Hey, I donno what I'm doing... I figure everyone who's not an idiot
ought to be able to use the space to it fullest: run scripts whatever...
I'm not even sure what's possible. :)
So far in 10 days there's been 3 curse words 0 bad feelings, 0 kicks,
0 user bans. It's very exciting and fun for me to meet people from
all over the world. Yesterday I met Vinter who is from Gotland home
of the Goths (Yeah! Goths!) and the original vikings came from there.
He's way cool! http://www.guteinfo.com/english/ He reads like a
young man 20? and uses Rhino/Maya to create game characters. He's going
for that XBuster game project right now and is considering using LW
this time around.
Anyway, it's all fun!!! (so far!)
So what Channel and server are you at? Or is it private?
....ooooOOOOoooo... Private... that could be fun!
Laterski bro.

I'll have to check it out... thanks for the reminder that there are

I hear that the Painter programmers finally pulled their head outta their
asses and gave it a semi-decent interface. (Anybody who >tried< to use Painter
5 knows what I'm talkin' about.)
So, is that true Chris?? Is the Painter UI now actually usable??

Heh.. cool.. give me one thing that will make me abandon Paint Shop
Pro for Photoshop full time.. something that will blow my socks off
and make me WANT to deal with the PS interface and its "No.. we don't
do CTRL-Z like anyone else" way of doing some stuff.. and no, not
actions.. grin.. hitting me below the belt isn't fair..

Wha' da fug chyou talkin' 'bout, boy? CTRL-z in PShop is UNDO-- how
much more standard can it get?

Yeah but you can't do it more than once.. you hace to "step
backward".... that's what I meant. standard undo is do this, then do
the next last thing, then the NEXT last thing, etc..
> Now, Painter3-5, >there< was a screwed up interface.
Maddening.

I'm not saying that you must abandon PSP :)
You must learn photoshop as a personal learning task! You must know
photoshop if you want to introduce yourself as a CG artist!
It's like having two degrees or knowing 5-6 languages : "i'm fluent in
French, Japanese, Swaili, RongoRongo and Photoshop 7. Oh by the way
<Smudge, Gaussian Blur, Despeckle!>..."
It's a matter of style!!! It's kewl! Speak Photoshop today!

Sorry, I thought maybe you actually could speak Japanese. Ok,

Photoshop is *not* needed to present yourself as an artist, SURELY!
Chottohenjanaai Jaxsan... Eh?!!?
You're being a little wierd Mr. Jax Think about it.
What you *do* need is skill. And perhaps formal training. A Protfolio. That's
it. Knowing Photoshop impresses noone and helps in securing a job about as much
as the socks you wear on the day of the interview.

Wrong grasshopper: the Second UNDO UNDOes the first UNDO, so it's
completely correct.
Anyway, the proper way to step back is to use the HISTORY palette.

Every other windows program, if I do 10 things, then hit the undo key
10 times, it undoes all 10 things. With Photoshop, I bounce back and
forth between undoing the last action and undoing the undo..
Tiny little thing, but it's a workflow adjustment that takes some
getting used to after 10 years of ctrl-z.

Like Eric suggests, use the History method, works just like a conventional
undo only it continues to work correctly after saving, many programs wont.
Now the way PS will sometimes entirely forget UI settings and revent back to
its default setting, now that _is_ annoying

Hm, the Beeb don't generally take things off to show repeats but they do love
axing shows at a moments notice if some sporting event overruns.

> to make and show add infinitum,
Just like ITV and the other channels. The BBC are not alone in this failing. How
about the way ITV are filling the evening airwaves with extra episodes of
various soap operas ? it's a cheap(ish) way of pulling in a fixed set of
viewers. What do you think of Sky 1's current line in soft porn reality show
output e.g. the Villa ? The endless repeats of Buffy, Angel, the Simpsons and
the various Star Trek series fill up their early evening schedules which is
hardly original or imaginative.
> Sky only do that with crappy shows like the afore mentioned
> Mutant X and Andromeda ;)

Agree about Mut X and Andromeda being pretty crappy (though nowhere near as bad
as Sky 1's attempt at a comedy Sci-fi show a couple of years ago : The
Strangerers. Now that was truly awful :-))
I do think the BBC needs to change its approach to programming. The license fee
provides funding which could/should be invested in the sort of programmes that
commercial TV is increasingly reluctant to produce as the advertising revenues
they generate do not cover the costs, e.g. children's TV dramas, wildlife and
other documentaries. Heaven help UK TV output if the TV license is ever axed and
we go over to purely commercial driven/funded programming :-((( Nice to see that
some of the money is being used to produce arguably the best network of sites on
the internet :-))
> Oh and whats your opinion on the first two eps of SG1 S7?

episode last Monday with episode 2 on Monday 13th.

Er...ID4 is not the best film to hold up as an example here as it was one great
big rip off of other films from start to finish :-))

Sounds lke you missed an episode mate :) I'm telling you now Fallen and
Homecoming have both aired already, third episode is on this coming monday.
Fallen was the Star Wars copy and the one where Daniel returned all nude n
stuff in the forest, Homecoming was where Anubis had already captured that
guy and went back to his homeworld. Course you could always say the first
two were a two parter but they don't often give parts 1 and 2 of a two
parter different episode titles completely.. As I understand it the next
episode is the one with the RDA clone, or perhaps that racing one which is
said to be a copy of a Voyager episode. They must be really running out of

Would be a whole lot better without the gratuitous foul language. Even this one
is a bit of a rip off. Ever read the 'Incarnations of Immortality' series of
novels by Piers Anthony ? The Grim Reapers in this story are a lot like I always
imagined Death's subordinates would act in those stories...but without the
trendy attitude problems :-))

Brain futz on my part :-) I did see both episodes but could only remember it as
one :-)) I'm a bit too focused on providing Carer support to my parents at
present to focus on little details like SG1 episodes...and that's the truth :-(

'V' the original mini-series, mixed with 'Earth vs the Flying Saucers' with the
resolution stolen directly from War of the Worlds. Heck, they even stole the
canyon chase flying sequence from that awful Clint Eastwood movie 'Firefox' !!
The roof top scene with the hippies getting blown away was taken from Nigel
Kneales final Quatermass story (the one with John Mills as Quatermass). I
remember playing spot the plot rip-off when I watched ID4 :-) Harmless, non-mind
taxing entertainment...yes. Original...no way :-)))

Hm...let me think. Take 3 billion pounds out of the UK TV/Radio/Internet
broadcasting budget. Spread the dwindling adverising revenue over an even wider
collection of channels then sit back and watch the already low standards plummet
to well below the barrel. No thanks. I stick with the license fee...but give the
Beeb a kick up the pants over their programming :-))
Cheers

Geez, how hard can it be to COPY simple functionality? Idiots. I wouldn't
even want Layer Effects in Painter, but duplicating a layer shouldn't take more
than two clicks. Idiots. WTF are they thinking?

Brizon?
I dont like that fellow...
He called my cat nasty names. He stole my chocolate during lunch break. He
made fun of my favorite teacher (I think he has a crush on her too!). He put
ants in my lunchbox. He pushed me over into a puddle once. His dog barks at
me continuously, and Im scared.
I told my mom but she just laughs at me kinda demonicly... Then looks up in
the sky dreamily and repeats his name softly... He has enchanted my mother.
He has enchanted my hamster, which bites me now everytime I feed it.
I feel alone in this world.
