Problems with Nvidia dual view

  • Follow

Hi All
Can anyone help me out with some problems I'm having with my system.
Basically, I'm running 2 GeForce 6800s on a pentium D system but NOT
using SLI as I have two monitors and SLI won't work across two screens.

Anyhoo. Lightwave keeps crashing on me and it seems to be connected
with having LW windows open on both screens. For example, layout open
on one screen and the scene editor on another seems to make LW crash
within minutes. I've got the latest drivers installed on my system but
don't really know about how to tweak settings for best performance.

Any help would be great

thanks

Nicko

opengl doesn't work with 2 graphics cards on the same machine each =
serving a separate monitor. =20
Use the dual head functionality of one card and all will be shiny

Yep, that sorted it....Thanks very much!

Do you happen to know if the other 6800 is actually contributing
anything to the openGL performance in this configuration, or will I
only get the benefit from the 2nd Graphics card in SLI Mode??

Thanks again

I think the theory is the cards divide up the graphics load.

I just have one Quadro FX 1300, and it seems to run two monitors just
fine, no crashing. I have crashed lightwave, but it's nice and asks me
to save my work before dying completely :-) CIA

You will need to run in SLI mode in order to use the power of both cards.
By not using SLI, the second card is just dead weight...
