Hi all,
I need to turn a 5-line musical staff into a spiral of various
densities. I've googled for spiral info, but see only some hand-drawn
ones and some methods for creating points by formula. PSP8 help doesn't
include 'spiral'.
Any pointers on how to 'spiralize' an existing image?
Thanks,
Dennis

Hi Dennis,
I don't know if it is suitable for what you want to do, but there is a
spiral effect of sorts under Distortion Effects->Twirl.

Nik,
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it, but unfortunately it doesn't
create a true spiral (one that starts at the center and spirals outward
X number of times) nor does it act on vector objects. The raster lines
are just too fuzzy to use.
This is for import into Finale, which has its own vector object creation
system -- but it doesn't have enough points to create a spiral.
Onward,
Dennis

I have no tried it but. there is a script on pixel nook that adds a tube to
a vector shape/path. you could draw the spiral as vectors combine into a
single object the tube the path with a suitably made tube
Just a thought

Given the simple formula for an Archimedean spiral, the next step is
to learn Python and write a vector-spiral generating script.
Warning: the formula may be simple, but programming vectors is not.
Have fun.

I have a vector lorarithmic spiral i created in PSP8 a while back. If
you still need one, I can email it to you if you like.

I would love to have it, especially if it's in the native format so I
can kick it around!
Many thanks,
Dennis
