Can I use psp (6.02) to create a thumbnail file for CDs with pix on them?

From a previous thread I see I cannot use the jbf file for this. Is there
some other way to do this with psp?

Thanks

Depends what you want the thumbnails to do. If you just want a set of
pictures on one image simply screen cap a browser window. If you want
clickable thumbnails to open the full size image go with html. You
can use the PSP image slicer to image map or slice the browser capture
and add links to the full sized images.

I want reference to hundreds of pictures I have on about 20 CDs. Something
like the jbf file that I could open w/o the CD in computer. So if I wanted
to find that picture of the green mustang, I could open these files and find
which one it's on.

Make yourself a full color catalog.
Open your browser window.
Menu> File> PRINT
This prints you a page (pages) of all those thumbnails.

The Folder info at the top won't be much help since they will probably all
say the same thing. However, if you make a dummy first image, then name
that file the same name as your CD? Then that first image in each directory
will be named for the correct CD.

You can do a similar thing digitally by saving your print screen files.
However, that is better done with other software, since long folders require
some cut and paste assembly.

No. Use Irfanview http://irfanview.com

I never had PSP v6, so I don't know the capability of the program. I'd
suggest a couple of solutions. Buy the anniversary edition of PSP7, which
upgrades you to v7 but also gives you Media Center Plus in the package. I
use Media Center for precisely what you describe, creating virtual albums
of thumbnails, complete with descriptions, key words, etc.

A free alternative is to download Irfanview and use it to create
thumbnails of the CD images, using folder names on your hard disk
corresponding to the CD names. That's not as elegant or versatile as Media
Center, but it's doable.

Get Irfanview.
It will create html index pages with thumbnails for each directory on
your CD in almost no time.

Using PSP's temporary index file as a permanent reference won't work.
