Anyone here know if are there any Command Line options for starting
PSP 8 please? I'm looking for one that will force it to open in the
current instance. I can find no mention of this in Help, but maybe
someone knows of an undocumented hack?
So far I've tried C:\Program Files\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro
8\Paint Shop Pro.exe (with or without quote marks) followed by
"%1%"
"/DDE"
""%1%" /DDE"
and several more obscure strings, all without success. Most gave
"Unable to open file". "/DDE" opened the file, but in another
instance of PSP 8.
My aim is to open a JPG image in PSP 8 while viewing it in IrfanView
4.23, using the program's 'Open in external editor' facility. At
present I can only get it to open multiple instances.

hmmm?
For PSP9 (sorry, no 8 here):
"C:\Programme\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 9\Paint Shop Pro 9.exe" d:\pic\tmp\pic1.jpg
opens a (new) instance of PSP(9 here...), followed by
"C:\Programme\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 9\Paint Shop Pro 9.exe" d:\pic\tmp\pic2.jpg
the second picture is opened in an second picture window of the first (and only) instance of PSP.
Without valid filename parameter, a second instance of PSP9 starts. With a valid name of a picture,
the first instance of PSP is used here every time...

Thanks Juergen. (I originally thought this group was no longer active,
but have just seen your reply.)
But what I need is a *general* command, not one specifying a
particular image. Something like those I described, e.g:
"C:\Program Files\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 8\Paint Shop
Pro.exe" "%1%"
