Does anyone recognize this problems with PSP8

  • Follow

Hi all
I am Kitty and I have lately some problems with my Dutch version of PSP8.04
and it is getting worse by the day.
My OS is XP pro and I have 512 Mb memory, if you need to know more I will
look it up :-))
The few problems are:
When I do a copy and paste from another source into PSP8 then it opens with
a kind of rasterwork besides it.

When using the browser it got somethimes stuck and have to reboot *G*

A few times I have noticed that it didn't read my filters when I wanted to
use them :-(

Somethimes all is so unstable that I even can't copy and paste a Url anymore
to my notepad.

Today I reinstalled my PSP8 version but the copy and paste of a graphic
still had this raster next to it.
I know there are in here some nice people with real knowledge.:-))
So I thought I better ask in here if you heard of this problems before.
I would like to know where to look to solve it, so if you have any idea
please can you share this with me.
Thanks in advance

What are you trying to paste to Notepad? You can only paste copied text in Notepad. In
Paint Shop Pro, if you try to paste anything that isn't image data, it will pop up a box
asking you for settings to rasterize the data. I'm not sure what you mean exactly by a
"rasterwork beside it." -_-; Could you show us a screenshot of what's happening on
alt.binaries.comp-graphics?

I'm not sure about the stability issues. What version of Windows do you have? Are you
trying to run a lot of programs at once? How much free hard drive space do you have? The
English version of PSP is only up to 8.01, by the way... >_>

Hi Sceadu
I posted a screen print for you in that group you mention, you see the
raster what I mean beneath the graphic in this case.
This happens when I copy and paste an image from another source like thumbs+
or from a newsgroup.

Ofcourse I was talking about plain text to copy to notepad, but the function
to paste is greyed out sometimes.
I have to reboot to get this function back.
I was thinking on a memory problem too, as sometimes when I copy and paste
another image, it still paste the last image again *G*
No it's not that I have too much open at the same time, this should not be
the problem, most of the time I have 4 or 5 programs open at the same time.

I use windows XP pro
Dutch PSP 8.04
C drive 20 gb left 11 gb
D drive 114 gb left 79 gb

Just in case I also scanned on virus tonight, as I thought that this could
use some memory somehow.
But it was all clean :-))
I know the english version is only to 8.01, I was amazed by it too when I
first saw this. *G*
One thing I do know, it doesn't make it run any better LOL on my PC anyway
*G*

[snip]

That cross hatched pattern is what PSP uses to fill in the gap
when the viewing window is larger than the image. If you press
Ctrl+W, the window should shrink to the exact size of the image.
There are settings in (this is for the English language version)
File > Preferences > General Program Preferences on the View tab
that might help. On mine they are all ticked.

All the best

Thanks Tim
Also for teaching me a new word cross hatched :-))
Ctrt+W works the same as when I zoom in or out on the image, then it give
the normal size.
I only don't understand why it paste this way :-(
And if it has something to do with all the other problems.
BTW these settings in my view tab are like you said all are marked.
