Drop Shadow Manipulation in PSP 8?

  • Follow

I was playing around with ULead PhotoImpact XL 8.5 with drop shadows on
text. There is nice variety of different drop shadow "types" that can be
used in the options dialogue. Wanting to stick with my old tried and true, I
was wondering if there is a way to alter/manipulate just the drop shadow
effect in PSP 8? As an example I would like to be able to "elongate" the
drop shadow so that it starts at the very base of an image or the text and
extends from that point away from it; sort of like a wind-blown look.
Another way of looking at this might be the shadows that are cast during
late afternoon. I hope that is sufficient to describe what I'm wanting to
create.

Create the shadow on its own layer and then deform it with
the - you guessed it - Deform tool. For more creative effects,
try deforming the shadow with Mesh Warp or the Warp Brushes.

Wasn't it Pilgrim who wrote:

Take a look at the "Perspective Shadow" in the free Eye Candy 3.1 plugin
(see earlier thread for where to find it). It's also possible (but more
difficult) to achieve the same sorts of effects with "ShadowLab" in the
commercial version of Eye Candy 4000.

For complete flexibility, just make a duplicate copy of your text; rename it
SHADOW and then change it to whatever color you want; distort to any shape
you desire; blur any part or all of it as you see fit, change the opacity to
whatever looks good, move it to where you want and enjoy the result.

Mike,

Thanks for information. I've done quite a bit of "Googling" to try and find
that "Eye Candy 3.1 Plugin" since I doing a search in this group turned up
"0", and there doesn't appear to be a source for that one that I can find. I
did find several helpful tutorials, however, on making Perspective Shadows.
But, if you should find a working link for that Plugin, I'd appreciate it if
you would point me to it. :~)
