Help with Borders
Hi - I'm running PSP7. I'm struggling with a problem using the "Add Borders"
feature. I want to "cut out" a portion of a jpeg file, using the Rounded
Rectangle selection tool, then apply a border to the rounded selection. I've
tried pasting the selection with the various options before applying the
border, but in every case, I'm required to flatten the layers. When I do
that, the border is applied as a normal rectangle around the entire image.
How do I get a border around only the rounded selection? Thanks for your
help.

As you found, "Add borders" adds them to the whole image, not just
the opaque part. Here is one method. You probably selected the part
you want to keep, inverted the selection, and cleared it. Make one
small change:
1. Select the part you want to keep. Invert the selection.
2. Flood fill the selection with your border color.
3. Invert the selection again. Selections > Modify > Expand by the
border width.
4. Invert the selection again. Edit > Clear.

Wasn't it Rob who wrote:

One tool you could use is
Selection -> Modify -> Expand
Then you might do something like Selection -> Invert, then press the
delete key.
