I have both Paint Shop Pro 8 and Photoshop Elements installed on my pc. Paid
for, and use both, PSP more than PShop.
Tried a plugin from Photoshop by copying it to plugins folder in PSP8. Altho
it's an 8BF it will not work. Says a needed file is missing. Anyone know if
this can be done? Again, let me say that I paid for both these programs, so
I am not trying to pull anything. It's just sometimes easier when working in
one program to use a filter etc without having to switch back and forth.

Adobe changed its format at around PS 6 which would be just before Elements
was invented. Same with PSD files that are not saved with full
compatibility. It was done to stop just this use of their filters

Could also be that you are missing a file that came with the filter. Might be a .dat file or anything for the matter.
It too needs to be copied to your plugin folder.

Instead of copying the .8bf file to PSP's plugin folder, point PSP at
the folder where the original plugin was installed by going to File >
Preferences > File Locations and adding that folder to the list for
Plugins.

Elephants?
I've gotten lot's of 8bf files to work. A few required other files to be in the plugin folder to work. Such as a few
from Mehdi demanded a .dat (included).

It's worth noting that a number of the filters in Elements that won't work
in PSP because of the changes *They* made, can be found inside Photoshop
LE (The one every body and their Aunty gave away with Scanners etc, before
Elements came along).
As they predate the code change, these will work in PSP.
Cheers
