PSP9: Bitmap to vector - how to?

  • Follow

I have a logo in .bmp format that I want to scale up a lot to go on a poster
and I'm trying to find a way to convert it to vector so that I can best do
this. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

Its not that easy. there are applications that do it,and for a simple log it
might work.
Corel has "trace" as part of the Draw package and there is Raster2Vector,
which is also a good keyword to put in Google but with To instead of 2.

The alternative is to trace it yourself on a vector layer above the raster
layer.

Hi Trev

I've used Raster2Vector and now have a .wmf file - but I'm lost as to how I
get that into PSP. Any suggestions?

Cheers

File open files of type wmf or all Or using the PSP browser double click or
drag.
I have used MS clip art that's in WMF lots of times. Expand the layer in the
layers palette to see what is what.
Use the Objects selection tool to scale it up Ect

Simply open it in PSP, File>Open. Make sure in File>Preferences>File
format preferences under the metafile import tab you check the Import
vector data box and the apply smoothing box. Apply smoothing will add
curves to the WMF file since the WMF format doesn't support curves
this will make the file much simpler and easy to work with. Once it's
loaded into PSP you may want to select all the paths, right
click>properties> and check the anti-lias box.
