I have had a powermid IR repeater for a couple of years and everything
has worked well. Unfortunately things stopped working reliably last
week.
Basics first
1. All of the remotes work correcdtly with the devices involved and I
replaced tht batteries for good measure.
2. I set up a test environment, IR reciever close by the IR
transmitter. The ReplayTV and General Instruments cable box work fine
with the apporpriate remotes but when I try to use those same remotes
through the PowerMid, they don't work.
I bought a replacement PowerMid thinking that might be the problem but
it doesn't work as well.
Do I have an interference problem? I don't get excessive blinking on
the powerMid units so

On the basis that you are located in US, the used RF frequency is 418 Mhz.
If you added recently a device using the same frequency, interference could
occurs .
Hope it helps
