RCA XL-100 remote codes

  • Follow

I have a console set that is at least 20 years old. The original remote
came with an on/of and a volume control and channel up/down. That is it, no
numbers no nothing.

I have tried many universal remotes and none of them will control the set.

Any suggestions?

Assuming you tried an RCA brand Universal remote with no luck, you might
try calling some local TV repair shops (if there are any left). They
usually have a lot of really old stuff lying around that might do the
job. Given that the set's value is basically $0, I wouldn't spend much
on getting the replacement unless this for a collection.
If your set is REALLY old it might use an ultrasonic remote rather than
an IR one. The oldest ultrasonic buttons typically have a snap feel to
them (hence the term "clicker") as the buttons trigger a hammer that
strikes a tuning fork/chime. Later ultrasonics created the sound
electronically, like the original X10 remotes.
