Where to get direct bury telephone cable

  • Follow

I need to run a phone line from the house to an outbuilding. About 100 ft
from the house.
Where can I get wire suitable for this and to bury?
Thanks.

Robert Bass should be able to get you whatever you want out of the Genesis
catalog. Alternatively try some of the electrical houses near you.
(Rexel/Branch Electric or equivalent). A local electrician may also be able
to help you.

You don't mention where you are but if there's a Graybar near you
they'll have it. You might also see if the local phone company or other
low voltage contractor will sell you some. 100' might qualify as a scrap
piece and be fairly cheap.

Brad,

In the amount that you require, "armored" (partial protection from
rodents) , "silicone flooded" (to prevent water-logging) 25-pair CAT-5
would be inexpensive and provide for generally code-compliant wiring for
phone, low-voltage power, ethernet, alarm sensors, alarm keypad and so on.
