Windows PC remote control with HID profile

  • Follow

Hi group,

Does anyone know a way to remote control a windows machine with
bluetooth using the HID profile?

My intenition is to use the Epox Bluetooth Presenter

http://www.epox.com/USA/product.asp?id=CP-BTPM01B

It has some buttons and a joystick and emulates a mouse.

In former versions the presenter used the Serial Port Profile, and the
driver application connected to that serial port. No problem to use
programs like uICE or WinLIRC instead of the driver to fully control a PC.

Newer Versions use the HID Profile instead of the SPP. They do not need
a seperate driver any more, but uICE or WinLIRC have a problem I think -
dont't they?

Is there any way to tell the bluetooth Stack not to emulate a mouse but
let's say "left button = stop, right button = play etc."? I do not have
the device so I cannot try anything, and I do not have a clue how far
the HID profile is configurable.

Is there any other way to remote control a PC via bluetooth (I do not
want to use a mobile phone or Palm Pilot / Pocket PC)?

greets,
-adi
